How Many Soaps Do You Really Watch? The Truth Exposed!

While devoted Days of Our Lives fans love their favorite daytime drama, they tend to watch other soaps, too.

The show’s viewers are among the medium’s most devoted lot. Some have followed the show through all of its 51 years and have favorite supercouples they root for. But do they tune in to watch the trials and tribulations of the characters in Genoa City, Port Charles and Los Angeles, too? A whopping 12,000 Salem fans responded, when Soap Hub posed that question.

None, Just Days
Surprisingly, the majority of fans weighing in, exactly 77%, said you only watch one soap: Days of Our Lives. It’s your favorite show, and no other one can compare in your book. While you’ve occasionally glanced at other soaps, the only one you feel compelled to tune into day in and day out is the one following the drama around the Horton, Brady, DiMera and Kiriakis clans.

Some 10% of fans admitted to watching The Young and the Restless, too. You’ve come to love the long-standing Jack (Peter Bergman) and Victor (Eric Braeden) feud, as well as longtime characters like Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Sharon (Sharon Case), and Nick (Joshua Morrow). Plus, it’s daytime’s #1 soap, so you feel compelled to watch it.

Meanwhile, another 10% of you also tune in to General Hospital, regularly. Some of you got hooked years ago, when current DAYS stars Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) and Stephen Nichols (Patch) were portraying Katherine and Stefan. After they left, you stuck with the show, because, at that point, you were totally invested in the other characters.

Since it’s only a half hour long – 19 minutes if you don’t count the commercials – 3% of DAYS fans decided to give The Bold and the Beautiful a try. You wanted to add another show to your daytime lineup, but not have to devote another full hour of your afternoon. Perhaps you followed Joe Mascolo (Stefano) when he played Massimo on the show. You stayed since tuning in, you’ve found the Forresters and the Logans captivating. Now, you’re hooked.
