How Strange Was Hal Attacking Kayla on Days of Our Lives?

After undergoing a liver transplant on Days of Our Lives, a disgruntled Hal woke up and attacked Kayla.

Talk about a fast recovery! One minute, Hal (Real Andrews) was on the operating table. The next, he found out his new liver wasn’t working, and there was nothing Kayla could do to help him. He reacted vehemently, accusing Kayla of botching his surgery. Then, he jumped out of his bed and threatened to inject her with a drug-filled syringe.

How do Days of Our Lives fans feel about the farfetched scene? Here’s what you said in our Soap Hub poll.

It Was Completely Unbelievable
There’s no way Hal could have done what he did, right after his surgical procedure, say 46% of you. It is physically impossible. You found the scene completely unbelievable, not to mention utterly ridiculous. If the show was determined to have Hal blame and attack Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) for his unsuccessful surgery, it should have at least waited a couple of weeks before making it happen.

In Soaps, You Can Heal in a Day
In a medium where characters repeatedly return from the dead, why can’t someone heal from a transplant in one day? That’s what 28% of you are saying on the subject of Hal’s miraculous recovery. You realize DAYS is a soap, and in daytime land anything is possible — and plausible.

Paging A Better Story, Stat!
Some 24% of you find this entire story twist a big, fat miss! You think the show needed to pen a better outcome for Hal’s surgery and subsequent reaction to Kayla. Having him attack her was lame, especially considering his post-op physical condition.

Up in the Air
The remaining 2% of you don’t know what to make of Hal’s vehement reaction to Kayla or the fact that he was able to leap out of his hospital bed at full strength so quickly. You were worried right along with Steve (Stephen Nichols), hoping for the best.
