Days of Our Lives had its share of stunning, poignant and gut wrenching storylines in 2016.
From Abigail’s “demise” and ultimate surprise return from the dead to Stefano’s murder at the hands of Hope (Kristian Alfonso), the soap never failed to deliver in the drama department.
The twist and turns of these stories and more had viewers on the edge of their seats. But which plot ranked tops among Days fan? Soap Hub polled fans about the most memorable storyline of 2016.
Buh Bye, Hello: The Chabby Saga
More than half of you, exactly 61%, ranked the Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abigail drama as tops for the year. You were heartbroken when Abigail (Marci Miller) suffered a mental breakdown and slipped further and further away from Chad.
When she was believed to have perished in a plane crash, you mourned her loss along with Chad. To have the character miraculously return from the dead by the year’s end has been a dream come true.
All your sad tears have turned to happy ones. Now all you’re waiting for is a happy reunion with Chad and their young song, Thomas.
Bang Bang: The Hope/Stefano Saga
Murder was tops for 33% of fans; specifically, Hope firing three bullets into the villainous Stefano DiMera.
What made the story so compelling was that Hope thought she was exacting revenge on Stefano, believing he had been the one who kidnapped Bo, kept him from his family, and was ultimately responsible for his death.
However, it was later revealed that he had nothing to do with it. Hope going on trial for murder and being sent to prison brought the story full circle.

The remaining 6% of you were more intrigued by a slew of other plots. Some fans were drawn to Deimos’ reign of terror and eventual love story with Nicole. Others found Theresa’s departure riveting, as it’s left unlucky-at-love Brady alone again.
Meanwhile, many found Chloe’s baby drama to be the biggest surprise in years. The reveal that she’s carrying Daniel and Nicole’s child is a twist you never saw coming.
