The Days of Our Lives (DOOL) recap for January 17 features an emotional-charged episode as Theo prepares to leave everyone he knows and loves so he can one day walk again.
Farewell For Now
Theo (Kyler Pettis) bid Ciara (Victoria Konefal) goodbye with tears in his eyes. The tears continued to flow as he also shared a final farewell with Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan). Soon it was Lani’s turn and he tried to get her to tell her what was wrong, but she just told him to rush back.
Abe (James Reynolds) shocked Lani (Sal Stowers) and JJ (Casey Moss) by congratulating them on the pregnancy. He then took his turn to say goodbye to Theo, happy that he’ll have his grandmother and half brother there with him.
The Truth Shall Set You Free
Eli (Lamon Archey) explained what happened with Lani to Valerie (Vanessa Williams) and she suggested they tell the truth to Gabi and JJ. He later saw Lani at the hospital and returned her earring.
Valerie was also at the hospital to support Abe, who told her that Lani is pregnant and she was obviously startled. But there wasn’t a dry eye as Theo left the hospital and everyone took a turn to hug him one last time.
Behind Closed Doors
Abigail (Marci Miller) and Gabi (Camila Banus) compared notes on Stefan’s machinations, with Abby telling Gabi that she and Chad will handle the new DiMera. After they finished work on the Gabi Chic press release, Stefan appeared to approve it and asked Gabi out to dinner in front of Abby.

Possible Problem
Earlier, Vivian (Louise Sorel) caught Stefan mooning over a picture of Abigail and deduced he’s smitten. She advised him they needed to stick to the plan. Chad (Billy Flynn) had a hissy fit with Stefan about trying to replace him in Theo’s eyes.
He then did an about-face and said that he trusted Theo’s instincts and he likes Stefan, so he apologized for how he’s treated him. He offered his hand, which Stefan eventually shook. After he left, Vivian said she didn’t believe a word he said and warned him about rattling Chad’s cage.
Man About Town
Chad left to attend a meeting and Vivian was intent on following him. She overheard him on the phone wanting information on Stefan, and she was obviously worried.
