A number of Salemites have been going through hard times over the past months on Days of Our Lives.

Their poignant stories have touched fans’ hearts and evoked many tears along the way. As a viewer, you can’t help but put yourself into certain characters’ shoes and feel their pain; particularly those whose trials and tribulations you’ve been watching for years.

Soap Hub asked which Salem citizen has been making your heart break of late. Over 3,500 fans weighed in.
 

Nicole
It’s been a year of pain and disappointment for Nicole (Arianne Zucker), who garnered 53% of your votes. Aside from having to pick up the pieces of her life after her fiancé Daniel’s death, she’s also had to cope with a long, desperate quest to have a baby.

With Deimos by her side she’s found love again, and it looks like her dream of becoming a mom has finally been fulfilled, too, thanks to her BFF and surrogate, Chloe.

Chad
According to 31% of you, Chad (Billy Flynn) is the character who’s been making your heart break the most. The poor guy spent the bulk of 2016 mourning his wife Abigail, who, it turns out, never really died. Hence, all his grief, pain and suffering was for nothing. It’s no wonder he’s so angry now.
