A blind item suggests that a veteran actor who only joined the Days of Our Lives team within the last two years will leave in 2017.
The report from Serial Scoop got the Soap Hub team thinking as we wonder who it can be. Remember, anyone who started on DAYS even a little over a year ago was on the set close to two years ago due to the show’s six-month lead time.
Could Vincent Irizarry be the one to go, and might it be by choice? ABC once again has the rights to his last soap character, Dr. David Hayward, who spent years on All My Children. When Prospect Park dropped its lawsuit against ABC two weeks ago, all AMC and One Life to Live characters became possible General Hospital characters. An opportunity with ABC might give Irizarry a reason to leave DAYS.
Other possible veteran actors who joined or re-joined the show during this time include A Martinez and Stephen Nichols. Martinez actually chose to go on recurring status months ago, but Nichols is a contract player and beloved to DAYS fans as half of the longtime supercouple of Steve and Kayla.
If it’s any of those men, they will be severely missed by fans. Irizarry started off slow, but Deimos has become an integral part of the show. Martinez is a beloved actor from his Santa Barbara days and his romance with Kate (Lauren Koslow) has just started to take off, while Nichols’ Steve is a Salem mainstay and is preparing to marry Kayla again in a romantic Valentine’s Day wedding.
