Maxie and Spinelli’s Halloween night went from happy to heartbreaking on the November 4, 2024 episode of General Hospital.
After some back and forth with Georgie (Lily Fisher) over trick-or-treating that ended with an iconic Zenon costume, Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Maxie (Kirsten Storms) wound up with the house to themselves on Halloween night. Just when they were about to get cozy, a knock on the door threw them back into the spooky spirit.
With Spinelli holding a cauldron of candy and Maxie donning a witch’s hat, they opened the door to see an eerily stonecold Jason (Steve Burton). Once he broke the news of Sam’s (ex-Kelly Monaco) death to the couple, they each let the shock sink in. Maxie even noted she reminded Georgie to snag extra peanut butter cups to bring to Sam to make up for the awful hospital food.
While Maxie cried, Spinelli spiraled, wondering how he could accept this outcome for his Fair Samantha. He remembered their PI business, McCall and Jackal PI, and the way Sam was the first person in Port Charles to give “The Jackal” a chance. Maxie assured him they made great PI partners, while Jason reminded him that Sam is the reason for their friendship.

Once Jason went back to comfort Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) after taking Spinelli into a long-lasting hug on his way out, Spinelli and Maxie were left on their own to grieve their friend. When the kids came home from trick-or-treating and dove into their candy, Georgie was sure to give her mom a handful of peanut butter cups, prompting tears from Maxie.
