During her run in Salem, Miranda Wilson’s Megan had two fathers. First, viewers believed her pop was Maxwell Hathaway, but then she became far more integral to the series when the writers revealed that Megan’s biological dad was none other than Stefano DiMera! Sadly, Wilson is now experiencing a personal paternal loss.
Miranda Wilson Honors Her Late Father
“Our Dad, James Joseph Wilson, passed on Tue Sept 21, 2021 at 14:30 California time,” Miranda Wilson posted on Facebook. “He had been only intermittently mobile since Saturday. I spoke to him Saturday night and knew it wouldn’t be long before he went. Gina had spoken to him on Friday and felt the same.
“He was in a quiet, undisturbed state when he passed and Jeff arrived shortly afterwards, having been called by the hospice nurse. I am extremely pleased that I had made the trip back to see him in August,” says the actress who played Stefano‘s daughter. “Equally, my visit had prompted a simultaneous visit from all of Dad’s children, several grandchildren, and my grandson, so Dad was surrounded by a great deal of love, on his 87th birthday.”
Wilson Shares Her Feelings
“I feel very settled about his passing, mainly because I had listened to my heart and made the trip,” says the actress who played Megan Hathaway from 1984-85. “We brought so much love and joy to him when I was there. We also had deep, relevant conversations the four of us siblings, about Dad, about us needing to let go of our attachment to any wish to keep him here, and to allow nature to take its course. His body was wrecked, and his quality of life was abysmal as a result.
“On the phone this morning with Jeff, and then later with Gina, we said we were so pleased we had all come to a place inside where we had let go and surrendered to what may come,” Wilson says. “It made this moment so much easier, and more graceful. I feel a great stillness around it all.
“Dad will be cremated,” she adds. “And as per his wishes, we will find an appropriate time to gather together in Nebraska at the family homestead that his Lebanese grandparents settled on the Niobrara river, in order to scatter his ashes. Given the impending winter snows in Nebraska, we intend for this to take place in the spring…With great love, Miranda.” Soap Hub sends deep condolences to Wilson and her family at this difficult time.
