Chad DiMera
Abigail has only been dead for a few months on Days of our Lives. Just this Christmas, her widower, Chad DiMera, was weeping at her grave alongside Abigail’s mother, then imagining his late wife was trimming the tree right alongside him. Come the new year, however, Chad is hitting the ice with his kids…and Stephanie Johnson.
Next thing you know, he’s making her herbal tea…and massaging her sore ankle, while making meaningful eye contact. We know soap time doesn’t work like real-life time, but isn’t Chad (Billy Flynn) moving a little too fast…even for Salem?
We know that Ghost Abigail (Marci Miller) has come to Chad multiple times. And, each time, she urged him to move on with his life. Chad took it as a cosmic sign. We saw it more as him rationalizing his attraction to Stephanie (Abigail Klein) by imagining that Abigail had given them her blessing.
The problem with Ghost Abigail urging Chad to find someone new to love is that Abigail has been presumed dead before. And, back then, Chad did move on. With Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus). And when Abigail returned from the dead – as everyone does in Salem eventually – she was not thrilled about the development. She was very, very displeased. She did not appreciate how fast Chad found someone to replace her. So what makes Chad think she’d be any happier about it now?
Maybe it’s because Marci Miller was the most recent actress to play Abigail, and she definitely had a kinder, gentler take on the character. Kate Mansi’s Abigail, on the other hand, would have never stood for Chad looking at another woman. Whether or not she was six feet under or not. Be careful, Chad. There may be a vengeance ghost in your future!
