Soap Hub Performer Of The Week For DAYS: Brandon Beemer

A number of DAYS stars who win the Soap Hub Performer of the Week title do so for grandiose, noisy scenes. But Brandon Beemer is being honored for (mostly) quiet reflective, reactionary scenes – though his boisterous faceoff with costar Brock Kelly didn’t exactly hurt his chances.

Brandon Beemer – Performer of the Week

Shawn Brady is a weak and weary man, but when Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) came-a-calling, present for baby Shawn Christian tucked under her arm and all, Beemer managed to inject enough joviality into his alter ego so as to not make him maudlin.

When talk turned to the subject of his estranged wife, Shawn made clear he wasn’t interested in engaging. But Chloe persisted. With stooped shoulders, downcast eyes, and a facial expression that telegraphed anger and regret, Beemer reflected on his sad situation. “My wife…cheated on me again. And this time I think it’s over.”

Beemer tried to keep Shawn’s rising emotions in check, but when Chloe stooped to try and defend her friend, he couldn’t help but express obvious irritation. “Listen, please, I don’t want to hear that it was technically cheating just because we were separated. It doesn’t make a difference to me.”

And just for Chloe’s information, Shawn was quick to remind her that, “was the one who was assaulted. Me. And she’s acting like I cheated on her.” Oh, and there’s the little problem of Belle Black Brady (Martha Madison) not wanting to raise Jan Spears’s (Heather Lindell) baby. “She doesn’t see him as…innocent…She can’t separate him from, ‘everything.”

In the end, as always happens, Shawn caved, asked to see Belle, and throw himself at her mercy. Thanks to Beemer, the scene felt less like a victim apologizing for being victimized to the wife who refused to consider him and his feelings and more like a desperate man in want of a reunion with the woman that he loves and can’t live without whatever her sins.

Shawn’s subsequent verbal assault of Kelly’s Christian Maddox, AKA Evan Frears seemed to allow Brandon Beemer some cathartic release…and when he leveled the threat that he’d kill Evan, Beemer made us believe that Shawn could and would follow through!
