On the Couch: DAYS’ Maggie the Mogul Is A Mean Horton Mess

Watch out Days of our Lives, Maggie Horton Kiriakis is on the warpath! She is the new CEO of Titan, and she is darn well going to act like one! Whoa. Where did that come from? How did Maggie, mom, mentor, manager, turn into Maggie the mogul? What is motivating her sudden shift in personality? We threw her on the DAYS couch for a closer look.

Maggie Horton Kiriakis: Low Self Esteem

When Mickey (John Clarke) first met Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), she was a humble farm girl. A crippled humble farm girl. First, he fixed her handicap, and then he brought her home to Salem to be his wife. Suddenly, humble farm girl Maggie was surrounded by lawyer Hortons, and doctor Hortons, and nun Hortons, and donut-baking Hortons. How was a humble farm girl ever to feel worthy?

DAYS: Fake It Till You Make It

Oh, sure, Maggie pretended to believe that the Hortons accepted her. And that they accepted the decisions she made over the years, such as, first, signing up to be a surrogate mother, then changing her mind and deciding to keep the baby. Mickey raised and loved Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) as his own. But it was just one more way in which Maggie felt she’d let the mighty Hortons down.

Maggie Horton Kiriakis: Moving on Up

But Maggie found out what high and mighty really meant when she married Victor (John Aniston). These weren’t doctors and lawyers. These were movers and shakers. How was a humble farm girl supposed to spin in their circles?

Oh, sure, she pretended to believe that the Kiriakis family accepted her. But when Victor made her CEO of Titan and folks like Justin (Wally Kurth), Xander (Paul Telfer), and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) expressed their doubts that she was fit for the job, Maggie finally heard all the condescension she has always been expecting from them. And now she had the means to fight back. She was their boss now. So take that!

Maggie never lashed out at the Hortons. Maggie never lashed out at Victor. But his relatives are fair game. And now Maggie will be saying everything she never got the chance to say. While pretending it’s all just business.
