A Critic’s Review Of Days of our Lives: Medical Malady & MVP Award

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: The Critic Ponders

On soap operas every little thing matters. There’s no such thing as coincidence or accident. With that granted, Tuesday’s episode had me pondering whether or not Days of our Lives is about to embark on a medical malady storyline for John (Drake Hogestyn). Between his lack of balance [which sent him tumbling into the tub with “Doc”] and his inability to grasp the bowl of whipped cream, all the evidence is there.

Further DAYS Musings

* If Days of our Lives were to ever start handing out MVP awards, Tina Huang [Melinda Trask] had better be at the front of the line.

* I wholeheartedly approve of a platonic relationship with between Xander (Paul Telfer) and Chanel (Raven Bowens). They just seem to really understand each other on a deeply personal level and the lack of judgment and ability to be real with one another is so refreshing.

* If Johnny’s (Carson Boatman) smart, he’ll walk away from Wendy (Victoria Grace) now while he’s still got the chance.

* Not that there’s anything wrong with enjoying Margaret Atwood, but hasn’t it been established that Marlena (Deidre Hall) prefers a Jane Austen and/or a contemporary crime novel?

* Only on a soap opera can the most entertaining rivalry be between a grown adult and a child. Surely we’re all team Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), yes?

* Romeo and Juliet, Rafe (Galen Gering), and Jada (Elia Cantu) are not. Me also thinks that there’s an easy workaround to Abe’s (James Reynolds) “No Fraternizing” policy. Ever heard of a Workplace Relationship Disclosure Form AKA “A Love Contract”?

* So, Stefan (Brandon Barash) was smart enough to deduce that EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) were playing him last week, but this week he’s dumb enough to plan a romantic rendezvous with Gabi (Camila Banus) in one of the most trafficked rooms in the DiMera manse (one which even Megan knows about despite never stepping foot in the place) and without even properly closing and locking the door?!

* This whole “Bo Kiriakis” plot continues to rankle, but I must confess that I do love his new snark-filled relationship with Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). As for that British accent…actually, I think I’m going to pass on that one.
