When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review

I’m not sure if you can tell, just as I’m not sure you actually read my critiques of the three other soaps, but the truth is, Days of our Lives has a special place in my heart. That’s probably why I cut for this show the hardest, and why I frequently take it to task when I feel that it’s not living up to its full potential.

This is going to be a column where I’ll be shaming far more than I’ll praise.

Paulina Price’s (Jackée Harry) agreeing to go on a weekend alone with her abuser left me perturbed, disturbed, and to be quite frank, seriously sickened.

Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) left me dumbfounded when she not only blamed Laura Horton for being killed but admitted that she could understand if Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) committed the act in cold blood.

I find it impossible to buy that Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) bowed out of witnessing Leo Stark’s (Greg Rikaart) public excoriation in order to answer a work call, and after witnessing his reaction to Leo’s condemnation of his lovemaking prowess, I’m beginning to think that there is truth to what Leo says when he says that Sonny isn’t over him…which doesn’t ring true given that just a few weeks ago Sonny was squalling at the mere remembrance of Leo touching…which didn’t ring true given what I watched go down on my screen on both the mothership and Peacock supplement.

And what is up with the Devil being so quick to reveal itself when the going gets a wee bit tough?

Also, I feel like I have to make this point yet again – I can not, and will not support a Clyde Weston (James Read)/Nancy Wesley (Patrika Darbo) pairing…which is a shame because I think the actors are cute together.

What do you think? Post a comment!

I can just about reckon with Ben Weston’s (Robert Scott Wilson) serial killer past and his present as a romantic lead, but I can’t get over what Clyde did to poor Jordan. Nancy and the Days of our Lives audience deserve better.

Further DAYS Musings

* As flat out thrilled as I am that Stacy Haiduk received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the Supporting Actress category, I can’t help but feel it should have been for her work as Susan Banks, rather than Kristen DiMera.

* Dialogue of The Week:

Chad: We had one bride, three grooms and no one said, ‘I do.’ It was a very Salem wedding.

* Kudos all around for the stirring goodbye scenes had between Nancy and Craig Wesley (Kevin Spirtas) and, yes indeed, Craig and Leo.

* What does it say about Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller), supposedly par excellence, that she can’t even get a simple quote right? Gwen’s exact words were, “I killed that little bitch on purpose!”
