A Critic’s Review of Days of our Lives: History Lessons Equal Fan Joy

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review

This Days of our Lives devotee is a very happy camper. Over the past week, we were treated to a plethora of Salem history lessons, laugh-out-loud moments, and scenes where characters actually used their brain.

Sarenee – my new nickname for Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) when she’s in her Renee DuMonde persona – was an absolute hoot, as was poor befuddled Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) who had absolutely no idea of who or what was being spoken of. Jake Kositchek? The Salem Slasher? Say what?!

I also appreciated go-getter Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller), though I am docking points for her failure to hogtie Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) before going exploring. That said, I do have to admit I’m starting to enjoy the interactions between the sisters-in-law and their budding frenemyship.

And thank goodness it only took the spouses Weston a few minutes to connect the dots and decide that the Devil is still walking amongst them in the personage of Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman). Let’s hope that the young man will be undergoing an exorcism sooner rather than later. Days of our Lives sure does love to drag a storyline on.

Further DAYS Musings

* Scene of the Week: Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) wondering if he can call best mate Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) dad.

* Welcome home Eli Grant (Lamon Archey)! I must say, I really appreciate the love and respect that Eli has Abe Carver (James Reynolds), and I wish the two of them would share more scenes together.

* Where the Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun)/Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering)/Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) plot is concerned, who am I supposed to be rooting for? Because, at this juncture, I am far more “Team Ava” than I am either one of her victims. Is that what the Days of our Lives writers intend?
