When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.
The highlight of the week was inarguably Bo (Peter Reckell) achieving total recall and all the classic scenes that illustrated the moment — but since there’s already been a whole article devoted to that, I’ll move swiftly on.
Confession time. I’m just not feeling this “Ode to the ’80s.” I just watched Marlena (Deidre Hall) die, get resuscitated by a magic orchid, reunite with John (Drake Hogestyn), and then die all over again, so I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m not thrilling to their – what I’ve not so carefully calculated to be — fourteen thousandth reunion.
I’m also struggling to see the point of revealing that Ciara (Victoria Konefal) is with child. I mean, good for CINN and all, but the couple is out of here in a few more works so…why?
I’m also growing pretty disenchanted with the goings on in Salem proper. Stefan (Brandon Barash) is a wee bit dense, but even he’s not dumb enough to fall for what Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) are selling him so why does it seem like he’s falling for what they’re selling?
And please don’t tell me that I’m going to have to suffer through Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) falling out over her slip of the tongue where his daughter is concerned. Also, tell me what was so wrong with what she said. I’d have probably said worse. Well, actually, I wouldn’t have been dumb enough to accept the collect call from Statesville.
The more that I think about it, the majority, if not the whole of Days of our Lives as of late seems to be predicated on people making dumb decisions, whether it’s in the character to do so or not. That’s not good storytelling. In fact, it’s the opposite.
* A Kimberly (Patsy Pease) mention! Squeal!!
* Abe (James Reynolds) and Chad (Billy Flynn) together warms my heart.
* Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and Gwen (Emily O’Brien) just aren’t cutting it for me. Perhaps if their relationship were based on anything other than sexual compatibility, I could get into it.
* She may have failed the bar three times, but NOBODY had better underestimate “Tink” Brady (Martha Maidson)!
