When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.
To quote Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold), “This is so stupid!” How can the Days of our Lives team justify ending an episode with ‘Heavenly Trio’ demanding to speak to the Prince of Darkness face-to-face-to-face-to…snout? And then failing to follow up?
Equally frustrating is the lack of answers concerning Chloe’s (Nadia Bjorlin) current digs, the state of a drugged EJ’s (Dan Feuerriegel) constitution, Nicole’s own failing health, and Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) precarious legal predicament. Oh, and did Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) join Roman (Josh Taylor), John (Drake Hogestyn), and Steve’s (Stephen Nichols) murder-minded cabal?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Days of our Lives has a serious pacing problem.
* Is it just me or did Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) end her Friday garbed in something that looked like it would be at home in an avant-garde production of The Crucible?
* No Truer Words Have Ever Been Spoken:
Sloan: “Arrested at your own wedding for brainwashing your bride’s undead husband. Only in Salem.”
But then…
Allie: “This is Salem, secrets have a way of getting out.”
* Quite a few columns ago, I proffered that it would behoove Days of our Lives to have both Xander (Paul Telfer) and Gwen (Emily O’Brien) on staff at The Spectator where they’d be perfectly poised to involve themselves in capers that Sarah would inevitably crash and complicate.
I now wonder if my putting that out into the universe somehow engendered this unfurling ‘let’s blackmail Jack for controlling interest of the paper’ storyline, and whether or not I should be thrilled or appalled.
If anything, at least Jack is getting a taste of his own medicine — and the fact that Leo (Greg Rikaart), son of the woman whom Jack stole the business from in the first place, will reap the benefits is perfect karma.
* Sorry Not Sorry: I’m still loving Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty). There’s just something about this woman swanning all over town, selling herself as G-d’s gift to the downtrodden and unfortunate that just tickles me.
