Legal Eagle Melinda Trask is tough as nails when she takes on the Days of our Lives criminals. She’s even scarier while prosecuting her fellow cops and some nasty do-badders even when they’re innocent (this time). Suffice to say she’s not exactly anyone’s favorite player, but we think she should be.
Is Melinda (Tina Huang) rough around those rigid edges? Of course. But, she has plenty of reasons to be. She’s working in a town where everyone (and we mean EVERYONE) has broken a law or two…or fifty. She goes up against the rich and powerful who never seem to pay all while still suffering the loss of her murdered daughter. That’s an ache that will never go away.
Is she hard on everyone? Yes. Is she sometimes wrong? Also yes. Does she get justice when it’s needed? You bet your bottom dollar she tries to. This woman has thrown herself into her work and doesn’t seem to give herself the luxury of a personal life. Who has time to lean when you have to clean…up the mean streets of Salem?
It can’t be easy being the bad guy when there are so many bad people to take down. Someone has to do it, though, and at least she’s stepped up to the plate. Just look at the trash she’s taken out. Clyde Weston (James Read) and Orpheus (George DelHoyo) are both where they belong because of her. She does good work. We can’t deny that. We’d even go so far as to say she’s a hero in her own right.
Sure, right now she has Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) all wrong and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) too but alas, you can’t win them all. We’re sure once the truth comes out she’ll get those men out of lock up and back to their lives. She may not apologize but hey, at least she’ll do the right thing and get back to chasing real (current) criminals.
What we’d like to see is Melinda’s life outside of the station. Give her a partner, let her have a love story, maybe even get married. She’s a hard-working lady who deserves some good old fashion romance. Maybe she’d even lighten up a little. Do you agree us or do you have your own thoughts on this storyline?
