“We couldn’t be happier to bring our loyal fans two more seasons of Days of our Lives and continue what has been an absolutely remarkable achievement in television,” said Michael Sluchan, Executive Vice President, Scripted Series & Kids Programming, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming. “A big thank you to Ken Corday and the cast and crew for their incredible passion for storytelling that continues to reach new generations of viewers.”

“After more than 55 years of bringing drama, adventure, and romance to screens around the world, we are thrilled and honored to carry on the Days of our Lives legacy for another two years,” said executive producer Ken Corday. “We are thankful to NBC for their enduring commitment to the show and grateful to continue this wonderful journey with our fans for years to come.”

“We are incredibly proud of the work being done by Ken Corday, the cast and crew. They continue to tell bold stories through these iconic characters captivating audiences around the world,” said Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, Sony Pictures Television. “We are thrilled to continue the legacy of Days of our Lives and for viewers to enjoy two more seasons.”

Created by Irna Phillips and Ted Corday, DAYS premiered on November 8, 1965, as a half-hour serial and in color. DAYS shot to the top of the ratings within its first six years thanks to head writer William J. Bell becoming Salem’s top scribe in Salem. In 1975, DAYS expanded to a daily 60-minute drama.

In the early 1980s, Pat Falken Smith, who’d taken over for Bell as head writer in the 1970s, returned to the show, creating two prominent families — that Bradys and the DiMeras — who remain on the front-burner today. In the 1990s, James E. Reilly took the story helm and wrote Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) possession, Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) unyielding quest to win Austin’s heart, Carly (Crystal Chappell) being buried alive, and Kristen’s (Eileen Davidson; Stacy Haiduk) reign of terror.

Ron Carlivati is the show’s current writer. While at DAYS, he and his team have won both the Daytime Emmy and the Writer’s Guild of America Award. Carlivati’s tales have included Will’s (Chandler Massey) return from the dead, Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara’s (Victoria Konefal) epic love story, Theo’s (Kyler Pettis; now Cameron Johnson) shooting, and Marlena’s right to die with dignity tale and many more compelling stories.

DAYS is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television. Ken Corday is the executive producer with co-executive producer Albert Alarr. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
