Fans of Chad and Abby have been getting their “Chabby” fix by watching the couple’s adventures abroad on the DOOL App series Chad And Abby In Paris. The app series may be ending soon, but Chad and Abby’s love story will continue when the pair return to Days of Our Lives and Salem.
Days Of Our Lives Welcomes ‘Chabby’ Home
Co-executive producer Greg Meng revealed in an interview to TV Insider that Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abby (Kate Mansi) are going to return to the broadcast show following the last installment of Chad and Abby in Paris on the DOOL App.
“Chad and Abby are a beloved couple…” Meng says. “We’re seeing into their lives and that will align with what we see when they come back onto the show [next month]. At the end of the second chapter, they’ll be back on the air show on NBC the following week.”
Just as DAYS has had its share of devious divas over the years — Kristen (Stacy Haiduk), Sami (Alison Sweeney), Gabi (Camila Banus), to name but a few — so has Chad And Abby In Paris in Juliette (Rachele Schank), who has done her best to break up Chad and Abby’s romance. Might we see Juliette or other characters from the app series appear on DAYS? “It’s possible,” Meng says coyly. “We’d love to have them pop in.”
Since the inception of soaps, fans have wanted to have a say in storyline directions. In rare cases, fans have been invited to choose a character’s name (usually, a baby’s) and one soap, Another World, invited fans to hear the evidence in a case and allowed them to vote on the verdict as if they were actual jurors. (Scripts featuring alternate endings were written.)
In those veins, Meng says there’s a plan to add an interactive element into dramatic content that appears on the DOOL App. Users will be able to choose which story development will occur next.
“We would allow users to see ‘this is what happens if you choose this direction,'” Meng says, “and then, ‘this is what will happen if you opt for this other direction.'” To download the DOOL App, click here. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
