Why does no one — except for Ciara — believe that Ben has changed on Days of Our Lives? The man commits a few murders — and one of them, Will didn’t even take! — and suddenly he’s a social pariah. (There was also the kidnapping of Abigail and baby Thomas, but who’s counting?)
Even Ben’s (Robert Scott Wilson) own sister, Jordan (Chrishell Hartley), doesn’t want him around her baby boy. And she’s a pyromaniac in a mental hospital.
Only Ciara (Victoria Konefal) sees the good inside of him. She knows the latest arson charges against him are bogus.
But there is just so much a man can take before he cracks. And Ben…uhm…he’s cracked before. Will all this pressure from Eve (Kassie DePaiva), Hope (Kristian Alfonso), and others drive Ben around the bend…again? What almost 11,000 viewers had to say:
Hope and Change
It’s almost unanimous, as 94% of you are sure Ben will be walking the straight and narrow for good from now on. For one thing, he’s taking his meds. They keep the voices in Ben’s head from growing too loud.
For another, he’s in love. And everybody knows love fixes everything. It reforms thugs like Steve (Stephan Nichols) and rapists like Jack (Matthew Ashford). Love can certainly keep a serial killer from reverting. This new and improved Ben is here to stay.
Not So Fast
Only a tiny 6% of the audience is just waiting for a relapse. Ben had a mental illness. That kind of thing doesn’t go away. Ben’s initial psychotic break was caused by the abuse he suffered as a child.
How is Eve harassing him not going to push the exact same Clyde (James Read) buttons? Ciara can’t love away Ben’s condition. If that were possible, Jordan would have gotten the job done. Or Abigail. Ben is just a ticking time bomb.
