On August 21, some of the biggest names in entertainment will come together to take part in the seventh Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) televised fundraising special, supporting urgently needed research and new treatments for cancer, including Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney.

Alison Sweeney Joins A Cause Near To Her Heart

Sweeney will be among the celebrities taking part and is looking forward to helping this important cause that is near and dear to her heart — especially as a survivor of skin cancer herself.

“I’m proud to join @SU2C this Saturday, August 21st, at 8pm ET/PT and 7pm CT for the #StandUpToCancer Telecast,” the actress posted on her Instagram account, adding a video of some of the talent that will be on hand, which includes Jennifer Garner, Tony Hale, Deon Cole, Ciara, and Max Greenfield.

Those who watch and donate will also have the opportunity for a special surprise. “Tune in to a special evening, and you may also have a chance for a one-on-one video chat with me!” Alison Sweeney revealed.

Since its inception, SU2C has raised more than $603 million to bring together more than 1,950 of the best scientists from over 210 leading institutions to collaborate towards ending cancer’s reign as a leading cause of death worldwide. 100% of donations received support cancer research programs.

Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon is serving as co-producer for the event along with noted entrepreneur Jim Toth. Anthony Anderson, Ken Jeong, and Sofia Vergara will join as co-hosts.

“Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S. and the leading cause in Canada,” Witherspoon said in a press release about the telecast. “Unfortunately, too many of us have a personal experience with this disease. I’m proud to highlight the amazing doctors and scientists of Stand Up To Cancer who work tirelessly on important cancer research, innovative treatments and much needed patient care.” SU2C’s research has contributed to nine FDA approvals for new cancer therapies, and 258 clinical trials treating more than 19,000 patients.

Although Alison Sweeney’s Sami is off DAYS for now, she is slated for a return. When she does, it will be interesting to see who kidnapped her as the suspect list is a long one — EJ, Ava Vitali, Nicole, or maybe someone from her past that we’ve yet to meet. Whoever it winds up being, you can be sure that Sami’s eventual revenge will be fun to watch! Stay Tuned!

Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Salem, check out all the latest that’s been posted on DAYS spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.
