Christmas has come early for Alison Sweeney fans as the on-again/off-again Days of Our Lives star joins the sequel to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries holiday film from last holiday season.
The Voice judge Blake Shelton is also producing this one — called Time for You to Come Home, according to ETonline, and it will also star Lucas Bryant, who recently played Agent Keller on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and appeared in the TV movie, Country at Heart. He will be playing Sweeney’s love interest.
The original Christmas movie was based on Shelton’s 2012 song, Time for Me to Come Home, which the country star wrote and recorded with his mom, Dorothy Shackleford. Sweeney shared the exciting news on her Instagram page.
“So excited to finally be able to share my fun Christmas news!!! Thanks @entertainmenttonight !! Love this @blakeshelton & @hallmarkmovie project! 🎄❤️ #cominghome #christmasmovie” Sweeney wrote.
In the flick, which is currently shooting in Vancouver, Sweeney portrays Katherine, who is a recent widow. She and her son return to her hometown to spend the holidays with her family. Along the way, she meets Bryant’s character, Jack — a veteran. They will part but of course, they will end up traveling to the same place.
This is Sweeney’s second Christmas film for the network where she also has her Chronicle movies based. The first one she did was Christmas at Holly Lodge, which was written by the writer of her Chronicle movies — former soap scribe Melissa Salmons.
As for Sami, Sweeney’s beloved alter-ego on DAYS, no word on if or when she may make another appearance in Salem, but we can certainly hope. That would be a great Christmas present for fans as well. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
