When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.
Let me get this straight. MarDevil (Deidre Hall) spent the majority of her Days of Lives tenure talking the Weston’s into making a baby that she could corrupt and send forth into the world…and now that the Devil is inhabiting the body of Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), Stephano DiMera’s grandson, and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Sami Brady DiMera’s (Alison Sweeney) son – a whole legacy of evil if there ever was one – his first act of business is to dump the boy’s newly acquired wife…who could bear him lots of babies.
I’d ask if this particular plot point makes sense if it wasn’t for the fact that Days of our Lives is the kind of soap where the Devil can just pay the topside a visit, and possess a townsfolk all willy-nilly. Sense doesn’t really factor into any of this.
* Anybody else not feeling that little kumbaya moment between Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien)? I know that Jen and Laura were never that close, but couldn’t she have been a little peeved that Gwen killed her? She should have more disdain for Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), and all Kate did was sleep with Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) that one time Jen was in a year-long coma.
* Character Acting Most Out of Character: Roman Brady (Josh Taylor). His love and adoration for Kate aside, there’s no way that Roman would keep Philip Kiriakis’s (Jay Kenneth Johnson) plan to frame Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) for his “murder” a secret.
* Disappointment of the Week: Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) didn’t really shove that cake into Rafe Hernandez’s (Galen Gering) face, and tell him where to get off.
* Given that Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) seems to be the only fully licensed, practicing physician on Days of our Lives, shouldn’t she have, at the very least, phoned University Hospital and let them know she’s handing in her stethoscope in order to go a sleuthing?
* Rafe should be so lucky that the beheading of a stuffed animal is the most of his problems.
* Surely I’m not the only one who feels that Days of our Lives is blessed with some of the prettiest, and most dense, men in all of soapdom.
Take Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Rex Brady (Kyle Lowder). They sat around discussing Kristen DiMera’s (Stacy Haiduk) impersonation of Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk), and her penchant for donning masks that can turn her into any Salemites double, and not one time did either feller stop to say, “Huh, I wonder if she pulled that same trick with Sarah?”
