A Critic’s Review of Days of our Lives: Hypocrites and Troublemakers

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the DAYS week that was.

Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review

Throw a stone in Salem and you’re bound to hit a hypocrite. How dare Abigail (Marci Miller) tear a strip off Gwen (Emily O’Brien) for sleeping with a married man, when she herself has done likewise? Yeah, we ain’t forgot your sexy shower time with E.J. DiMera, little Miss Thang! And the fact that she had the gall to tell another woman to abort her baby…the less said about that the better.

Conversely, there’s Chad (Billy Flynn), who insists that it’s in his wife’s best interest to forgive the woman who drugged her with a hallucinogenic, and he can’t make peace with Jake (Brandon Barash) whose one crime seems to be having Stefan’s face.

Then there’s Theo (Cameron Johnson). He knows that a fully competent Ciara (Victoria Konefal) wouldn’t thank him for accepting her kiss or doing everything in his power to drive a wedge between her and Ben (Robert Scott Wilson).

Theo still “loves” her though, so apparently, it’s okay for him to act all kinds of shady. But lord forbid Ben do anything untoward – but please don’t think we condone Mr. Weston’s plan to forcibly inject his wife with a potentially dangerous drug. [Given how botched Allie’s (Lindsay Arnold) rape storyline was, there really was no need for another (attempted) violation of a woman and ignorance of the concept of consent.]

Oh, and earth to Sami (Alison Sweeney), you’ve always enjoyed blasting Marlena (Deidre Hall) for sleeping with John (Drake Hogestyn) when she was still technically married to your daddy, and yet you’ve cheated on not one, but TWO husbands. Yep, nobody’s forgotten about your rendezvous with E.J. when you were Mrs. Rafe Hernandez.

Further DAYS Musings

* A button. The SPD’s entire investigation into Charlie’s (Mike Manning) murder rests on a button? Is it any wonder Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) is fit to be tied? And how comical did you find the scenes in which Rafe (Galen Gering) had to explain how he eliminated his ex-wife, his former stepdaughter, his lodger, and his lodger’s son as potential suspects?

* Truth be told, as humorous as it was to see a hungover, and underdressed Xander (Paul Telfer) make the acquaintance of his bride and her mother, he’d really have no trouble getting that quickie marriage annulled.

He was clearly, clearly under the influence of alcohol and in no fit state to enter any kind of institution – accept maybe one offering help to wayward, broken-hearted Greeks – and it’s hard to believe that the union was consummated.

And it remains to be seen if Chanel (Precious Way) will even want to live in her new normal. She thought she was snagging herself an attractive CEO, but what she actually got was an attractive unemployed bloke.
