A new EJ DiMera will soon be resurfacing on Days of our Lives. Sorry, James Scott fans. Actor Dan Feuerriegel (Spartacus) is rumored to be taking on the mercurial role.
How much do you remember about Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) complicated husband and Susan’s (Stacy Haiduk) beloved son? Here’s a crash course on all things EJ DiMera.
James Scott originated the adult EJ in 2006 and played the character until he was shot “dead” by one of Clyde’s (James Read) henchmen in 2014. However, in 2018, it was revealed EJ was very much alive. It turned out Kristen had injected her brother with Dr. Rolf’s super serum and moved him to a facility to recover. While there, EJ was badly burned in an explosion. Sami discovered the bandaged patient, ran a DNA test on him, and learned he was her husband.
EJ was originally introduced to Salem society as a race car driver, but his careers shifted over the years. He later entered the corporate world as a co-owner of Mythic Communications, worked as a lawyer at Mickey Horton’s firm and DiMera Enterprises, and eventually became the head honcho at his family’s business.
His past is checkered with some unscrupulous deeds, proving he’s definitely Stefano’s son. He tried to shoot and kill John (Drake Hogestyn). While using Sami to escape Salem, afterward, he agreed to help save Lucas’s (Bryan Dattilo) life if she had sex with him. He also brainwashed and tortured Steve (Stephen Nichols), and arranged his daughter Sydney’s kidnapping and staged the child’s death. Plus, he ordered Brady (Eric Martsolf) beaten, Philip’s (Jay Kenneth Johnson) murder, and Stephanie’s (Shelley Hennig) kidnapping. The list goes on…
The female population of Salem has always found EJ irresistible. He had an early fling with Kate (Lauren Koslow), before tying the knot with adversaries Sami and Nicole (Arianne Zucker). In between, he had tryst with Nicole’s sister, Taylor, and later a scandalous affair with the much younger Abigail (Marci Miller).
Lest not forget the former thug was also the mayor of Salem for a short time, albeit he did use underhanded means to win the gig. However, when Stefano was shot and EJ was the prime suspect, he forsook the position to go on the run. Although EJ was eventually cleared, he was forced to resign as a public servant. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
