“Cin” made if official, when Ciara and Ben tied the knot in a picture-perfect ceremony on Days of our Lives. Then things went kaboom – literally, putting the couple’s happily ever after in immediate jeopardy.
Days of our Lives Has Its Fourth July Wedding
Obviously, actors Victoria Konefal and Robert Scott Wilson’s sublime connection as the bride and groom made a huge impact on their characters’ nuptials. But there were also a few other key moments that made a big impact on the week-long affair.
Check out our list of the Top 5 highlights that made Ciara and Ben’s wedding so special.
Moments with Marlena
During his run on DAYS, Ben’s a guy who’s had very few people in his corner. But since he began seeking therapy, he’s found a true champion in Marlena (Deidre Hall). So having Ben reach out to her on his big day, after having a bad dream about his wacky sister Jordan (Chrishell Stause), was perfect.
Marlena quickly reassured him that he was a healed man and deserving of the happiness he now had. Ben acknowledging how much she meant to him and asking if he could give her a hug only added to the moment. Of course, Marlena obliged, adding that she would see him at the church. “I’ll be on the groom’s side,” she smiled.
Their exchange at the church was just as heartwarming when Ben thanked the good doctor for always believing in him and helping him through the worst times in his life, crediting Marlena for all the good in his life.
Remembering Bo
Peter Reckell’s Bo may not have been on hand for his beautiful daughter Ciara’s wedding, but, thankfully, the soap didn’t forget to make Bo a part of it. And having Kristian Alfonso, the other half of Days of our Lives’ indelible Bo and Hope super coupling, be the one who brought Bo into the mix was touching and heartfelt.
Hope handed Ciara a beautiful pair of earrings that Bo had ordered without telling her. “He asked me to hold onto them until your wedding day,” Hope noted. Ciara teared up, and so did Hope, reminding her daughter how much her daddy loved her and was with her. “He’s always with me, Mom,” replied Ciara.
Rafe to the Rescue
Having Ciara ask Rafe (Galen Gering) to walk her down the aisle seemed so right. Obviously, she could have asked one of her grandfathers – either Doug (Bill Hayes) or Victor (John Aniston), who she is particularly close to.
But, remember, before he died, Bo asked Rafe to look after Hope and his family, and he’s done exactly that. Rafe was always a father figure in Ciara’s life, looking out for her well being and supporting her at every turn. Yet, he never tried to replace Bo, and that’s why it worked so beautifully.
Words of Love
The groom stole the show during the couple’s wedding vows as well he should. Courtesy of Ciara’s love and faith in him – and, of course, his daily meds — the former Necktie Killer put his horrific past behind him and truly became a new man. And this was the day to acknowledge all of it.
Ben referring to himself as a “feral cat” was spot on, as was pointing out that he’d “owned” his past and “made amends” when he could. Ben’s vows culminated with him noting that his life really began the day he met Ciara — his “miracle,” and the woman who gave him the love story he never believed he’d ever have. Ben’s words were honest, gut-wrenching, and spoken straight from the heart.
Bomb’s Away
Granted, the bombing at the end of the wedding put the kibosh on Ben and Ciara’s otherwise perfect day, but at least the couple did get to say “I Do” and they are officially married. Meanwhile, the explosion has set a whole new front burner Ben and Ciara storyline in motion, as Ciara searches for her missing groom and viewers wonder what on earth happened to him.
Did Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) set the blast? Or was it another enemy of the couple or someone else in attendance at their wedding? And the special effects – the fires, fallen debris, and cool red lighting through which all the scenes were shot – were pretty spectacular, too. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC.
