With new head writer Ron Carlivati’s material airing, this week, Days of Our Lives (DOOL) needs to get back on track.
So far, summer in Salem has been ho hum and, on occasion, ludicrous. Hello jungle fever! But there’s still time to get things sizzling.
Here are five changes the show needs to make.
Power Up the Power Players
Remember when John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) had front burner storylines? When Hope (Kristian Alfonso) was a bona fide leading lady instead of a languishing on the sidelines?
It’s time to rev things up with the “Big Three.” John and Marlena need to drive a major plot of their own. Hope needs to delve into a new drama with Rafe (Galen Gering) by her side. Enough time has passed since Bo’s death for viewers to accept their coupling.
Will’s Alive
While DAYS won’t say who Chandler Massey will be playing, it has to be Will. His resurrection will infuse new life into Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Paul’s (Christopher Sean) romance.
The duo is finally in a good place and secure in their love. Will’s return would blow things up. And it would also provide great dramatic moments for his immediate family – Sami (Alison Sweeney), Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) and baby mama Gabi (Camila Banus) — as they welcome him back into their lives.
A New Teen Triangle
It’s been over 10 years since DAYS developed a teen triangle that engaged viewers: the Brady/Chloe/Philip saga. Fans were torn as much as Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) was over which man to choose.
The soap already has the elements in place. Tripp (Lucas Adams) just needs to catch the eye of Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan), who’s currently smitten with Theo (Kyler Pettis).
A DiMera Resurgence
Andre (Thaao Penghlis) and Chad (Billy Flynn) are at the helm of the DiMeras, but the powerful clan needs another member to regain its position of strength. The soap needs to pull out all the stops to get Eileen Davidson to re-sign for a lengthy stay as Kristen.
The character is power hungry and ruthless and could lead the family to places they’ve never been before while working to get Brady (Eric Martsolf) under her spell. With Nicole leaving, he’ll be vulnerable.
About Abigail
Dario (Jordi Vilasuso) played her for a fool, and she let Gabi walk away with her man. Abigail (Marci Miller) needs to have a major wakeup call, regain her strength and take back what is hers.
Chabby fans have been waiting for Chad and Abigail to fully reconcile since Miller took over the role of Abby last year. They deserve a happy ending and so does the couple.
