The daughter of Dr. Bill and Laura Horton, Jennifer Rose Horton spent her formative years with her parents far away from Salem, but returned to her dad’s hometown as a teen to live with her grandparents. Jennifer was a rebellious teen who started dating rich boy, Glenn Gallagher. Eventually, she realized she had feelings for Frankie Brady, the adopted son of Shawn and Caroline Brady, as well as her high school tutor.

Frankie and Jennifer started a romance, but vixen Eve Donovan got in their way with her lust for Frankie. Eve let the cat out of the bag about an affair Frankie had during a short break up with Jennifer and Jennifer left him for good, prompting Frankie to leave town.

A new romance ensued with bad boy Emilia Ramirez, who was trying to turn his life around. During her time with Emilio, Jennifer started a college internship at The Spectator, a newspaper owned by Jack Deveraux. The two developed feelings for each other, but Jack would not admit to them until Jennifer almost married Emilio and he kidnapped her from the wedding. When Jack and Jenn were shipwrecked after the Cruise of Deception, they made love for the first time and became an official couple.

When Lawrence Alamain raped Jennifer, it stalled her romance with Jack. Eventually, she overcame the rape and married Jack in 1991, giving birth to their daughter, Abigail, a year later. When Jack’s environmentally unsound investments lead to their baby contracting aplastic anemia, Jack left town out of guilt.

For the next two decades, Jack and Jenn married and divorced several times, but not without others getting in the way. Jennifer’s romance with Peter Blake was short-lived and she eventually left town. Jack was also presumed dead more than once, but he and Jennifer did have a son named Jack Jr. (J.J.) through all of this.

Between her makeups and breakups with Jack, Jennifer began a romance with Daniel Jonas, but had a hard time choosing between him and her ex-husband. She eventually chose Daniel, but a teenage J.J. constantly got in the way of their romance.
