Hope Williams Brady was born to Addie Williams and her much younger husband, Doug, who was truly in love with Addie’s adult daughter, Julie. When Hope was a baby, Addie was killed trying to save Baby Hope from an oncoming car and Hope was raised by Doug and Julie, who had the unusual status of being both Hope’s mother and sister.

Hope grew up as the doted on daughter and eventually spent some time in boarding school. When she was 17, she returned from boarding school to finish high school in Salem and was immediately smitten with Bo Brady, who had recently finished a stint in the Merchant Marines. Bo thought Hope was too young for him, but Hope was persistent in her pursuit and at her lavish 18^th birthday party Bo admitted he was in love with her.

However, it was not an easy road for the couple. Bo was soon blackmailed into leaving Hope to protect her from a criminal and Hope felt compelled to marry District Attorney Larry Welch. On the day of the wedding, Bo kidnapped Hope before the ceremony and put cigar-toting private investigator friend Howie Hoffsteader in her place. Hope was soon kidnapped by goons working for Maxwell Hathaway and forced to marry Larry, but that marriage was short lived. In May of 1985, Bo and Hope (who was now a police officer) finally married in a regal ceremony thrown by the Queen of England herself (fictionally, of course).

After Hope gave birth to son, Shawn-Douglas, she and Bo left to sail the world with their son, but retuned when Shawn was a toddler. Hope was soon presumed dead and a few years later turned up back in Salem under the name Princess Gina. It turned out Stefano DiMera had blackmailed her into thinking she was Gina, but she eventually got her memory back and reunited with Bo.

Hope married and remarried Bo several times over the years. She also gave birth to two more children, Zach and Ciara, but Zach was killed in a car accident. Her latest marriage to Bo was deemed invalid because of a marriage to John Black when she believed she was Gina, but she still considers Bo her true husband.
