10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Kristian Alfonso

Alfonso first aired as Hope Williams in the spring of 1983, but she could have had two more years playing Hope if she wanted. She was first asked to audition in 1981 but wasn’t ready to leave her parents and make the big move to Los Angeles from the East Coast. Instead, she continued with her modeling career and the role went to Tammy Taylor. The pre- Alfonso version of Hope had a short romance with Jake Kositchek, who was later revealed as the Salem Strangler.
During Alfonos’s days as a model, she found herself on the covers of some pretty big publications, including Vogue, Glamour, and Bazaar. Her face was (and is) so gorgeous the modeling industry ignored the fact that she was just 5’4” tall. This height certainly does not fit the usual model tall girl stereotype, but Alfonso’s petite stature just didn’t matter.
Alfonso first got a taste of the limelight as a figure skater in the junior Olympics. In 1985, her skating experience was written into her “Days” storyline as Hope went undercover as a figure skater to solve a mystery.
When Hope was figure skating, she did so to the music of James Ingram, whose song, “Whatever We Imagine” became a Bo and Hope signature song. Incidentally, Ingram is Alfonso’s favorite singer. She also has a favorite band, The Gipsy Kings.
Alfonso appeared in several roles over the years aside from Hope. She played Pilar in the CBS primetime soap, “Falcon Crest”, as well as a girlfriend of Tony Danza’s character in an episode of “Who’s the Boss.” She also had a role in the movie “The Joshua Tree,” in which she insisted on having a body double for the nude scenes.
Fans are always surprised to see just how short Alfonso really is. When they tell her that, the actress always tells them they should see her without her high heels on
Alfonso’s mentor when she first began on “Days” was the lateFrances Reid who told her to do more than just recite the lines. She wanted her to look at them and think about them.
Alfonso, who has two sons of her own and one stepson, found the scenes where Hope loses her son, Zach, as her most difficult to play in the over 30 years she’s been portraying Hope.
Like most women, Alfonso hates working out, but still gets the job done because it makes her feel so good when she’s finished.
Another task she hates is doing laundry, but again, like most, she knows it needs to get done and claims she does at least one load every day.
