Jeff Hordley is a British actor who is best known for playing Cain Dingle on the soap opera Emmerdale for close to 20 years.
While he’s stayed very busy with the British soap for the past two decades, Hordley has also pursued work on the stage. From where he was born and raised to the health struggle he deals with every day, here are five fast facts about the actor.
Hordley was born on March 7 in Crumpsall, Manchester, England, but he grew up in Oldham, Lancashire. He attended North Chadderton Comprehensive and graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theater, where he got a degree in Theatre Arts.
Soap Career
The actor appeared in a couple of episodes of Coronation Street in the late ‘90s, but Hordley is best known for playing Cain Dingle on the soap Emmerdale — a role he landed back in 2000.
Health Struggle
Hordley has been very open about his struggle with Crohn’s disease. He was diagnosed back in 1996, and it was the same disease that caused his mother’s death back in 1979. Hordley has been hospitalized multiple times and while there is no cure for it, the actor is currently in remission.
Along with being an actor, Hordley is also a major music lover and has become a DJ on the side. He is set to DJ at the Festival Bop Local later this year, and he has already DJ’d at clubs in Manchester and Leeds over the years. He also previously DJ’d at the British Soap Awards.
Getting Personal With Jeff Hordley
He married his college sweetheart, Zoe Henry, in 2003. The couple works together on Emmerdale, as Henry plays Rhona Goskirk. They have two children together, daughter Violet (born in 2005) and son Stan (born in 2008).
