Kate Ford is a British actress who is best known for playing Tracy Barlow in Coronation Street on-and-off for over 15 years.
Along with her work on the British soap, Ford has also appeared on programs such as Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs, Missing, and Blue Murder. From being in a Beatles music video to opening up about her health struggles, here are five fast facts about the actress.
Ford was born on December 29 in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. She attended Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria, as well as Blackpool and The Fylde College. She also began training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art as a young woman.
Beatles Video Girl
Her earliest work as an actress came in a music video for The Beatles song, Free as a Bird. Though the original song was recorded in 1977, the Beatles released a studio version in 1995, 25 years after their breakup and 15 years after John Lennon’s death. The video was shot from the point of view of a bird and it was released in promotion for The Beatles Anthology video documentary.
Soap Career
The actress was cast as Tracy Barlow in Coronation Street in 2002, becoming the fourth actress to play the character. She won the British Soap Award for Best Bitch in both 2004 and 2005, and she also won the British Soap Award for Best Actress and Best Storyline in 2007.
Ford first went public with her endometriosis diagnosis in January 2017 after the singer Halsey revealed she underwent surgery because of the disorder. She has been open about her pain on social media and has shared her struggle in hopes it will allow other women suffering to feel less alone.

She married TV producer Jon Connerty on October 13, 2007. The couple welcomed a son, Otis James Roger, in June 2008. However, they announced their separation in September 2013.
