In the mid-1990s, Lark Voorhies went from one teen set on Saved By The Bell to another young set on The Bold and the Beautiful. Now, one of those gangs is getting back together and Voorhies isn’t being invited to the reunion.
Catching Up With Lark Voorhies
Voorhies, who played Jasmine Malone on BB, is dismayed that she hasn’t been invited to take part in the revival of Saved By The Bell for NBC streaming service the Peacock. While Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris), Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater), and Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) are all coming back, Voorhies, who played Lisa Marie Turtle on Saved By The Bell, is not. She recently went on The Dr. Oz Show to talk about the situation.
Voorhies shared on Dr. Oz that she feels her battles with mental health, though she didn’t get specific about a diagnosis, may have led her being excluded from the new show.
“I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members’ events,” she says. “Yet of course, I also realized that having this puzzling disorder may have played a major part in that factual decision.”
The actress is not the only original cast member not to return. Dustin Diamond (Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers) is also not part of the Saved By The Bell revival. Time will tell if Tiffani Thiessen will be back as Kelly Kapowski.
Voorhies is open to being invited back to Saved By The Bell in the future. In the meantime, she says, “I hope to bring more mental health awareness to help others going through the same challenges. Thank you for sharing your stories with me over the years of how strong you all have been too! I look forward to a brighter future and seeing the great things that can be accomplished!” The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
