Wyatt has taken a bit of a backseat to his brother Liam over the years on The Bold and the Beautiful. Recently, Wyatt’s renewed his relationship with Sally, who accidentally referred to Wyatt as “Liam.” And Darin Brooks has something to say about that.
Darin Brooks: Wyatt’s Odd Love Life
While hearing his lady love refer to him as his brother isn’t great news to Wyatt, it’s actually music to his portrayer’s ears! “I love that you bring that up and people are discussing it,” Darin Brooks recently told TV Insider.
“That’s the kind of thing we do in daytime. I like to play moments like that. Scott [Clifton, Liam] and I joke about it – how Wyatt always gets Liam’s hand-me-downs.”
This dynamic informs who Wyatt is and what his challenges are. “I like to play those deep-rooted issues,” the actor says. “People choose Liam over Wyatt. That’s what I loved about the storyline with Sally. She and Liam didn’t really date. I think that kiss [that Sally and Liam shared after the Spectra Fashions building collapsed] was always in the back of his mind, but he didn’t think about it that much – and then, Sally misspoke.”
Interestingly, Wyatt and Liam seem to share a healthy relationship and there’s not much friction between these two despite Wyatt being, arguably, second choice to some. “Our show’s about romance and in this context, it’s about ‘bromance,'” Brooks offers.
“Wyatt and Liam are brothers. Instead of blaming Liam for any shortcomings in his life, Wyatt seems to want to examine those issues within himself. Wyatt’s more excited about having a brother than losing one. They get along and they’re united at times against their father.
“That said,” Brooks adds, “it’d be totally fun to go back to Wyatt fighting with Liam. Scott and I get along great!” The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
