Onscreen, Katie is enjoying a new romance with Carter Walton though she’s heartbroken over what’s happening with Eric. Off-screen, her portrayer, Heather Tom, is doing much better and has a reason to celebrate.
Happy Birthday, Heather Tom
That’s because she was born on November 4, 1975, in Hinsdale, Illinois, which means that this talented lady is turning 48 years old today! Having been bitten by the acting bug at an early age, Tom was appearing in commercials by the time she was 2, and at 10, she was dancing with the Seattle Pacific Ballet Company.
A family trip to Los Angeles, used to try and break 13-year-old Tom into the Hollywood biz, resulted in the budding thespian landing an agent, enrolling at the Young Actor’s Space, and landing parts on Who’s the Boss? and Kids Incorporated.
Following a role in the made-for-television film She’ll Take Romance — in which she played Dynasty star Linda Evans’s daughter — Tom won the coveted role of legacy character Victoria Newman on the CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless.
Tom made her soap opera debut on December 12, 1990, and remained with the series until December 2003 — excluding an eight-month hiatus in 1997. During her tenure, Tom was nominated for eight Daytime Emmy awards and she won both the 1993 and 1999 statuette for Outstanding Younger Actress.
After her exit from Y&R, Tom joined the cast of ABC soap One Life to Live where she played Kelly Cramer between December 11, 2003, and December 14, 2006. The character earned Tom two further Daytime Emmy nominations (2005 and 2007).
In 2007, Tom took over the part of Katie Logan on the CBS serial The Bold and the Beautiful, with her first episode airing on August 30, 2007. Since then, Tom has won four additional Daytime Emmys — one in Outstanding Supporting Actress (2011) and three for Outstanding Lead Actress (2012, 2013, and 2020).
Aside from her work in daily drama, Tom has made guest appearances on series including Law & Order: SVU, Monk, The Mentalist, and Lucifer. Outside of her acting career, she owns and operates a design business with her husband James Achor. She also has been directing and has stepped behind the lens at both Y&R and Dynasty.
