Brooke Logan may not feel like she has a lot to be thankful for now that Ridge Forrester has walked out on her on The Bold and the Beautiful. However, she may be getting some good news just in time for Thanksgiving. TV dad Patrick Duffy, who plays Stephen Logan, is returning to the show, and he’s not coming back by himself.

Patrick Duffy Reprises Brooke’s Dad Stephen

People broke the news that Patrick Duffy is reprising his role as Brooke’s pop for a few episodes starting Wednesday, November 23. Actress Linda Purl, who’s dating Duffy in real life, is also coming onto the half-hour soap, and she will play Stephen’s on-screen girlfriend. Purl recently wrapped up an impressive guest stint on General Hospital as Peyton Honeycutt, the mother of Carly Corinthos’s (Laura Wright) best friend, Reese.

Stephen Logan’s Backstory

Stephen Logan first appeared on B&B in 1988 when he was played by Robert Pine. The Logan patriarch had walked out on his family. Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) hired private eye Conway Weston (Jerry Ayres) to track down Stephen so that she could reunite him and his estranged wife, Beth Logan (Nancy Burnett). Steph desperately wanted to squash the love affair Steph’s husband, Eric Forrester (John McCook), was having with Beth. Stephanie orchestrated Stephen and Beth’s relocation to Paris, and voila! Eric was (mostly) hers once again!

Patrick Duffy — Dallas’s Dream Guy

Duffy assumed the role of Stephen in 2006. He dated Stephanie’s sister Pam Douglas (Alley Mills) for a bit, but they split up when Stephen left town. Duffy, of course, is best known for his run as heroic Bobby James Ewing on the nighttime soap opera Dallas. Duffy played the role from the show’s inception until its finale in 1991. Bobby was killed off in 1985; however, producers lured Duffy back to the show the following year and brought the character back to life by revealing that his death — and an entire season — had all been a dream! The actor reprised his Dallas role for the TNT revival series that ran from 2012 to 2014.

Duffy’s not the only Dallas star to share a connection with B&B. At least four other actors have the daytime soap and the nighttime serial on their resumes; in addition to Duffy, Susan Flannery (Stephanie Forrester, B&B; Leslie Stewart, Dallas), Linda Gray (Priscilla Kelly, B&B; Sue Ellen Ewing, Dallas), Lesley Woods (Grandma Logan, B&B; Amanda Ewing, Dallas), and Morgan Fairchild (Dorothy, B&B; Jenna Wade, Dallas) have done both series.
