Soap Opera News: Going Retro
With production halted at all the daytime dramas due to the coronavirus, General Hospital has found a way to stretch out broadcasts of original episodes. The soap has begun airing retro shows on Fridays. The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful will be following suit and airing classic episodes, too.

After a week out of first place in the daytime rating race, YR is back at the top of the heap. The soap placed #1 in a few coveted categories.
Soap Vet Dies
John Callahan (ex-Edmund, All My Children; ex-Dr. Baker, Days) passed away after a massive stroke. He was 66.
The actor’s ex-wife Eva LaRue (ex-Maria, AMC; CSI: Miami) was able to visit Callahan with their daughter, Kaya, before he died. La Rue also posted some loving words about her former husband.
Daytime vet Patrika Darbo (ex-Nancy, DAYS; ex-Shirley, B&B) checked in to a local hospital. She took to Instagram to fill fans in on her condition and diagnosis.
Soap vets Drake Hogestyn (John, DAYS) and Vincent Irizarry (ex-Deimos, Days) gave a well-deserved shout out to two of their kids. The actors both have children who are on the front line helping to fight the coronavirus.
Gilles Marini (ex-Ted, DAYS; ex-Dr. Ghode) is equally as proud of his mother, Franca. She’s a caregiver in a nursing home where, so far, 19 people have died.
Kate Mansi (Abigail, Days) was slated to marry fiance Blake Levin on March 29, but then the pandemic hit. The actress had some advice for other couples whose weddings were affected by the virus.

Rena Sofer (Quinn, B&B) gave her take on why she thinks the coronavirus is happening. And she urged all of us to reclaim humanity and make Mother Earth proud.
GH’s Jophielle Love (Violet) has some ideas about how to have fun, while stuck at home due to the coronavirus. And a group of her young GH co-stars, led by Scarlett Fernandez (Charlotte), have started using Zoom to bond in the age of social distancing.
