Last year, Thomas Forrester came forward with the video of his late pal Vinny Walker explaining that he was going to frame Liam Spencer for his ‘murder’ on The Bold and the Beautiful. Recently, Matthew Atkinson pointed out that his character never would have gotten that video unless it was sent to him — most likely by Bill Spencer!
Matthew Atkinson Explains Dead Men Send No Videos
As B&B viewers recall, Vinny (Joe LoCicero) recorded a video on his phone in which he explained he was going to jump in front of Liam’s (Scott Clifton) car, die, and Liam would be framed for his “murder.”
Thomas had some tech issues with his phone while the drama was unfolding and Liam confessed to accidentally killing Vinny and lying about it afterward. Bill (Don Diamont) was riding shotgun and urged Liam to remain silent, so the two Spencer men ended up in jail — until Thomas came forward with the video and the murder charge was dropped.
A Plot Hole You Could Drive Bill Spencer’s Car Through
During a recent episode of BOLD LIVE in which Atkinson appeared as a guest, an Australian fan named Marco called in with a question about the storyline. While other questions about the story have already been raised — like how could Vinny possibly have known that Liam would be driving Bill’s car — Marco posed a query that hadn’t been pointed out until now. He asked Atkinson what his theory was on how Vinny could have sent him the video since he was dead and couldn’t hit the ‘send’ button? “Hey, my immediate thought when I read that script was how did Vinny send the video?” responded Atkinson, acknowledging that the viewer from Down Under had a valid point.
“Obviously, Vinny didn’t think that through too hard because he didn’t actually send the video,” Atkinson pointed out. However, the actor does have a theory as to how the video made its way (eventually) to Thomas’s message box.
How Matthew Atkinson’s Thomas Got Vinny’s Video
“The only explanation I came up with was when Bill…went down to grab the phone to take care of all of the evidence, he must have hit the ‘send’ button,” offered Atkinson, adding wryly, “That was really kind of Bill to go out of his way…he gave himself a way out of prison!”
We’ll never really know how the video made its way to Thomas’s phone, or if Vinny had any other motivation other than wanting to reunite Thomas and Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) with his desperate act. But that hasn’t deterred Marco from being a fan of Matthew Atkinson’s or from being a devoted B&B follower.
“We had a bit of a chuckle about that one,” Marco said. “We’ve got to suspend belief.”
