Daytime icon Ian Buchanan won his Daytime Emmy award for best supporting actor while starring on The Bold and the Beautiful as James Warwick. Plus, he was half of one of daytime’s all-time favorite couples, Duke and Anna from General Hospital. A former International model, he’s currently a well-read international traveler. Soap Hub checked in with the actor about some of his favorite things.
Ian Buchanan Talks About Life
You were out of the country when the virus shutdowns were happening all over the world?
I was in Scotland for a wedding and would have spent a week in London but the world was shutting down and I wanted to get home.
Did you have a difficult time getting back home?
Changing plans at the last minute was a little stressful but once on the road, or in the air, it all went smoothly with an enormous amount of good faith all around.
What have you learned about yourself during this strange time?
I am most definitely a creature of habit, I don’t like noise and reading is my greatest pleasure. I’m also not as patient as I thought I’d become. I will always think of COVID and Curmudgeon together.
How do you explain the popularity of the legendary TV duo of Duke and Anna?
I can’t! It’s love, trust, and then all sorts of other ingredients added by us and a lot of other people.

What big star would you love to act in a movie with now?
I’d like to do a movie with everyone I’ve ever loved working with. An ensemble piece not necessarily about show business but definitely a long weekend in a very large country house with wine, song, cooking, and charades. Of course, many surprises!
What is the best advice your dad has given you?
When I was too young to understand, my father told me never to believe in anything that didn’t believe in me.
Favorite way to usually spend the weekend?
What is a weekend? I’m going to have to redefine that. I don’t even know what day it is.
What TV show would fans be surprised you never miss?
Queen of the South. I am a huge Molly Burnett fan.
