Why Couldn’t The Bold and the Beautiful Give Rena Sofer A Proper Send Off?

The soap world was shocked in August when longtime The Bold and the Beautiful star Rena Sofer announced that she had already taped her last scenes as Quinn Fuller on August 5, with her last airdate scheduled for August 29.

The Bold and the Beautiful Didn’t Give Rena Sofer And Quinn Justice

When Quinn was barely seen between Sofer’s announcement and the end of the month, we had a feeling the soap didn’t really have plans for a big end story for the character. And, what we got was so much worse than that.

After nine years as an outcast who definitely did her share of devious and crazy things, Quinn finally found true happiness with Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) after the surprising and unlikely pairing of ‘Quarter’ became popular in 2021.

In epic scenes that saw Quinn biking down the beach to stop Carter from marrying Paris Buckingham (Diamond White), Quinn finally got the man, and fans looked forward to more to come from Carter and Quinn.

Unfortunately, that was never meant to be, as Rena Sofer made the decision to depart the soap to pursue other interests, including a second career in pottery. Perhaps those scenes of Carter and Quinn having a romantic dinner in the Forrester conference room were already written before Sofer let B&B know she was leaving, so there was no time to write a dramatic exit story.

But, could the script not have been adjusted to have the couple plan an extended getaway so that when we stop seeing Quinn, it makes some sense?

At least knowing they were off on a trip somewhere, for the time being, would have given fans a tiny bit of closure for a couple they have been invested in.

Instead, we got some happy throwaway scenes that could have aired at any time and not as the last moments a beloved actress who had been with the show for nearly a decade would be seen on screen. Fans expected more and deserved more, and, in the end, so did Rena Sofer.
