Weekly Recap: May 11-15, 2026
Monday, May 11 – Episode #284
Anita (Tamara Tunie) hits a milestone. It’s her final chemotherapy session before she finds out what her next steps are. After her chemo was over, she and Vernon (Clifton Davis) walked out, and Dani (Karla Mosley) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) stood right there with Ashley (Jen Jacob), who told Anita it was time to ring the victory bell. It was something they had patients do after their final session. Anita rang it, and the family rejoiced. Andre (Sean Freeman) later joined them at Anita and Vernon’s house, where they celebrated the end of her chemo sessions and looked forward to. better days.
Nicole made a stunning admission — that she was in bed with Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley) and started thinking about Ted (Keith D. Robinson). She needed Dani’s advice. Dani didn’t judge her. She let her know this was normal. Their anniversary just happened, and that’s why she was thinking about her ex. No big deal. Meanwhile, Ted clashed with Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) over her attitude toward Shanice (Ernestine Johnson). He told her to stop pressing Shanice’s buttons. Leslie suggested she and Ted unite to give Eva (Ambyr Michelle) a great birthday.
Later, Ted invited Izaiah (Lami) to join them. He suggested that he cook for everyone. Leslie and Eva talked about Eva’s birthday at Orphey Gene’s. Eva told her mom that she was busy on her birthday night. She’d be doing Samantha and June’s hair, helping them get ready for the cotillion. Leslie had nothing good to say to June (Jasmine Burke).
The Richardson-Smith household spent time together. Also, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) pressured Jacob (Jibre Hordges) for intel. She wanted to know about Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso) and whether he was a criminal. Jacob set her straight as much as he could. He couldn’t tell her everything. But he did tell her who Ashley needed to watch out for at Garland Memorial. Leslie demanded that Derek (Ben Gavin) let Grayson volunteer at the clinic. And Derek apologized to Ashley about his attitude toward Grayson. Ashley did note that he was kind of right.
Tuesday, May 12 – Episode #285
Joey (Jon Lindstrom) confronted Smitty (Mike Manning) after hearing what Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) had to say. Randy had tailed Smitty to that out-of-the-way hotel. He speculated that Smitty may have been up to no good and was cheating on Martin (Brandon Claybon). Naomi’s news hit close to home for Ashley when her best friend told her that Dr. Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht) was the staff member at Garland Memorial who had threatened Grayson.
Jacob filled Elon (Malachi Malik) in on Lia Whitmore being the plasma ring contact. He also told his dad that Joey was having Smitty followed. After Joey and Smitty had words, the reporter headed to the hospital, where he and Ashley had an informative conversation. Smitty told Ashley that Grayson was a good person at his core. Meanwhile, Elon told Joey to back off from Smitty. Joey decided not to do that. Instead, he told Randy to keep tailing Smitty.
Elon also helped Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) and Madison (Kenjah) deal with an altercation at Orphey Gene’s. She broke the phone of someone who was trying to get too close and ask too many questions. Afterward, they headed to Bill’s office, where there had already been some drama. Bill got an unwelcome blast from the past while at his law firm. The opposing lawyer in the malpractice lawsuit against Madison was Bill’s former law partner, Mike Davis (Pierce Lackey). Mike was out for blood. His goal was to get at least a $40 million settlement. Chelsea, Madison, Bill, and Naomi strategized about how to handle Mike.
Wednesday, May 13 – Episode #286
Chelsea dealt with a crisis head-on while Dani, Kat (Colby Nixon), Bill, and Naomi helped. Apparently, someone at Orphey Gene’s caught Chelsea breaking that reporter’s phone on video. After consulting her family, Chelsea went live on Instagram and told her truth. And while she continued to receive some backlash, the majority of the feedback was positive. Later, Bill, Hayley (Marquita Goings), and a reluctant Naomi spent quality time over a drink.
Smitty met up with Tomas (Alex Alegria), and they discussed Lynette Wise (Dominique Madison). Smitty wanted to know if Tomas knew of any connection between Lynette and Lia. He ultimately told Tomas that Lia was one of the victims. And that’s why he really wanted to know more about Lynette. And for his part, Tomas wanted Smitty to tell him if he came across anything about Lynette during his investigation.
Eva’s birthday dinner brought together Ted, Leslie, Eva, and Izaiah. They gave her gifts, and Izaiah unveiled his truffle mac and cheese, which a supremely sarcasticLeslie ended up liking. After Ted and Leslie left, Eva and Izaiah said something they couldn’t take back. They admitted they loved each other.
At the country club, Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) advised Nicole on her sudden issue with thinking about Ted. Then Nicole ran into Ted, who had just jogged his frustrations away after spending Eva’s birthday with an out-of-control Leslie. Meanwhile, Leslie sat down with Vanessa and made it clear she hasn’t given up on Ted.
Thursday, May 14 – Episode #287
Anita and Vernon discuss what’s next with Dr. Bauer (Ivan Moore). Anita selected the lumpectomy option of all her choices. During Nicole and Samantha’s outing at the country club, they both had to deal with the Belleclaires. Anastasia (Timeca Seretti) and Chessy (Madison Alsobrook) didn’t hold back. They tried to tear Samantha (Najah Jackson) down, say she didn’t belong, and she didn’t have Dupree blood. Nicole defended her granddaughter. The interaction got nasty.
Joey lashed out at Vanessa after she told him that she had done some digging into his sister’s whereabouts. That she had found some properties that Heather had bought and sold, if he wanted to track her down. The news triggered him, and he claimed she was trying to fix his life so she would feel less guilty about her own.
She then met up with Donnell (Alex Cheeks) at Uptown. Joey showed up and tried to give Donnell cufflinks for the cotillion. It was something Doug (Jason Graham) used to do for his son. Donnell rejected them at first. Then showed up at Joey’s casino, where the two talked. Joey said he didn’t want to replace Donnell’s dad. Donnell still didn’t know whether he would wear the cufflinks, but took them with him just in case.
Mona (Karan Kendrick) and Randy chatted at Orphey Gene’s. They had a conversation for the first time since Mona hit Randy over his raunchy behavior with Lynette in the middle of the restaurant. This discussion was much friendlier. And Randy wondered what a church lady like Mona saw in him. And she said she did see something in him worth knowing. Later, Mona ran into Anita at the hospital. Mona told the Dupree matriarch she wanted to start a church group to support community members with cancer. Anita adored the idea.
Friday, May 15 – Episode #288
Jacob and Smitty marked the moment they saw the light at the end of the tunnel for their investigation. Ren (Donny Carrington) called Jacob and said Rashad would be needed at the warehouse the next night. VIPs of the plasma ring would be there. Jacob and Smitty also realized that Lia’s next target was the free clinic. Smitty wanted to be at the warehouse, but Jacob told him no. He needed to be with Samantha at the cotillion.
Jacob called his father to tell him about the warehouse and that the Impaler might also be there. Elon was proud of his son. Additionally, Marcel (Darryl W. Handy) questioned Lia while Elon went over to the hospital. Marcel asked Lia about certain spots where the hospital’s video surveillance cameras went black. Marcel assured Elon that he could tell that Lia was the person who turned off those cameras. He couldn’t believe his old friend was up to no good.
After the Belleclaires bullied her, Samantha decided to quit the cotillion. But Eva gave Samantha the reasons why she couldn’t quit. Martin and Tyrell also supported Samantha, who got emotional when he gave her earrings. Smitty got home in time to lend his support, too.
At the country club, Vanessa and Nicole talked about the cotillion and Nicole’s daydreams of her public displays of affection with Ted. She also mentioned that she would attend the debutante ball solo. After all, the evening was about her granddaughter. Meanwhile, Ted showed up at their table at an awkward time. But he didn’t hear anything that would tip him off to Nicole’s feelings. Nicole and Ted ran into each other in the hallway at the club, and Nicole made an excuse to get away from Ted as quickly as possible.
Naomi showed up at the hospital with Ashley. She vowed not to let Ashley out of her sight, knowing that Lia was a threat. Lia did have a chat with Ashley, however. Ashley set some boundaries with Lia, which Dr. Whitmore seemed to appreciate. Lia threatened Grayson, saying he needed to figure out the free clinic situation or else. A pickup was scheduled for the next day. Grayson freaked out because he didn’t think that was a realistic goal. But later at the clinic. (which we have just seen for the first time), Eva opened up the locked cabinet for him. And he saw her input the code.
