Weekly Recaps: September 28 – October 2, 2026
Monday, September 28 – Episode #377
Hayley (Marquita Goings) had another trick up her sleeve. And it will ensure she stays out of prison. She told Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) she had recordings of Bill and others talking about that night, a couple of years ago, when Martin (Brandon Claybon) killed that racist thug in self-defense and the subsequent cover-up. She said that if Bill didn’t give in to her demands, she would ruin the Duprees’ reputation.
Hayley asked Bill to pull strings to prevent her from being charged. Plus, she wanted the house in St. Bart’s and the pre-nup money. And she would agree to leave the DMV. Additionally, Hayley confessed to never being pregnant.
There was a little get-together at Anita and Vernon’s, where Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) went off on Bill in front of Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) and put her foot in her mouth. And at the hospital, Ashley (Jen Jacob) and Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) adjusted to their new roles.
Eva (Ambyr Michelle) arrived when Ted (Keith D. Robinson), Shanice, and Ashley were talking about Kat (Colby Nixon). Eva told them that Leslie had bailed Hayley out. And Eva had a heart-to-heart talk with Ted. Kat reached out to Izaiah (Lami) because she needed a nonjudgmental friend outside the Dupree inner circle to help her make sense of what went down with Tomas (Alex Alegria). After their talk, he met up with Eva and told her about his conversation with Kat.
Smitty (Mike Manning) feared Jacob (Jibre Hordges) was dodging him. He texted him and hadn’t heard back. But Nicole advised him that he was probably just busy with the Bill/Hayley business. Nicole also supported Chelsea, who was feeling overwhelmed with the drama and the trauma that kept happening to her and her family.
Tuesday, September 29 – Episode #378
Dani (Karla Mosley) leaned on her sissy for comfort. She was in tears, and Nicole supported Dani with (mostly) nonjudgmental advice. Meanwhile, Andre (Sean Freeman) arrived at Anita and Vernon’s mansion, where they made sure he was doing okay. They wanted to know if he and Dani had been able to talk about what had transpired and process it together. He told them that it hadn’t happened yet.
At Orphey Gene’s, Hayley and Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) met up. Hayley filled him in on what he had missed, including the fact that Bill was going to get the charges against her dropped. And it was all because she had something on him. Unfortunately for Randy, she didn’t share what that leverage was.
Chelsea arrived at the restaurant and made a beeline for Hayley and Randy’s table. She threw a glass of water on Hayley. And Hayley slapped her. Randy and June (Jasmine Burke) broke up the fight, and Randy forced Hayley to leave.
At the country club, Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) ran into Lionel Belleclaire (Andre Hall), who was very much interested in Leslie. While she just wanted to talk about getting the construction of her shouse underway, he had something else in mind. He asked her out to dinner. But she told him that she was trying the whole monogramy thing out.
Anastasia Belleclaire (Timeca Seretti) couldn’t believe her eyes and ears. That Leslie could be coming on to her ex-husband. The two had words in the middle of the club. Anita (Tamara Tunie) walked up and basically took Leslie’s side, which horrified Anastasia.
Anita didn’t really care much about taking sides. She just wanted to talk to Leslie about bailing out Hayley. She said that every time she thought she could see an ounce of humanity in Leslie, she did something like this. Leslie expressed that she didn’t do this to hurt the Duprees, but it didn’t matter. That’s what happened.
Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) made up an excuse and rejected Heather’s request to get together and also for another guest pass at the country club. She did it because of the way Joey (Jon Lindstrom) felt about his sister. Heather (Ashley Jones) didn’t appreciate it and later called her while Vanessa was with Joey. She asked about getting together the next day, and Vanessa said that was no good either. Her schedule was super busy.
Back at Vernon’s place, Andre left Vernon (Clifton Davis) stunned when he asked his father-in-law what he knew about Joey Armstrong. He wanted to know if he could trust him. That prompted Vernon to stop by the casino. He got there just as Vanessa left. Vernon wanted to know why Andre would ask whether or not he could trust Joey. Joey stayed tight-lipped about his business with Andre. Vernon told Joey not to harm Andre.
Randy and Hayley talked in her hotel room. They argued about the pre-nup settlement. She wanted all of it, but then said she would give her cousin 25%. But she wouldn’t give him or his son a place to stay in St. Bart’s. Later, Leslie showed up at Hayley’s hotel room. Because she paid the woman’s bail, she expected a friendship to blossom between them.
Chelsea told Dani and Nicole all about the fight that she got into with Hayley. Then Chelsea and Dani visited Bill at the hospital. He told them that he was having the charges against Hayley dropped. Elsewhere at the hospital, Andre announced that Vanessa had been carjacked.
Wednesday, September 30 – Episode #379
Bill confessed to Dani and Chelsea that he had to make a deal with Hayley. Chelsea was livid and went to the precinct, where she told Jacob and Naomi that Bill wanted to get the charges against Hayley dropped, and he would use his connections to do it.
At the hospital, Vanessa was shaken, but physically she was okay. She just had some bruises, and she was sore from the carjacking. Nicole was livid with Joey. She told her bestie as much, and Vanessa wasn’t happy about it. Marco (Berry Williams Jr), one of Joey’s security guys, said he was distracted by a fire. That’s how the carjacker got to Vanessa. And then Andre was headed to his apartment when he spotted Vanessa and got her to the hospital.
Vanessa used Nicole’s phone to call Joey, and he rushed to the hospital. In a harsh tone, Nicole accused Joey of not being able to keep Vanessa safe. Joey sounded like he knew who was behind the carjacking and said he would deal with the person responsible. Vanessa realized she was targeted.
Leslie tried to impress on Hayley that since she bailed her out of trouble, they were friends. And she also said she could possibly work it out with Lionel Belleclaire — who was into her — that she could get her a guest pass for the country club. But what Leslie really wanted was a friend to talk to about her love life. Hayley was frustrated that Leslie wouldn’t leave her hotel room. She wanted to be alone.
Ted visited with Bill, and the two wondered how they both ended up with crazy women who destroyed lives. Ted empathized with Bill’s situation. Then he left when Dani came back in after she spent a little time with Andre. Andre told her about Vanessa’s carjacking, and she told him that she needed to finish a talk with Bill, who had upset Chelsea. Andre let Ted know that he was frustrated with Dani spending so much time with Bill, but she was doing it because of their daughters. She still came home to him.
Bill told Dani the particulars of just how bad Hayley’s leverage was. It was bad enough that he had to use a mark from his red file. And she guessed it had to do with Martin, Vernon, and that night two years ago. Over at Joey’s place, Joey comforted and cared for Vanessa. She told him she was sorry that she was a liability. And he said he would take care of the person responsible. And after Vanessa went to partake in some self-care, he told Marco to bring Heather to him.
Thursday, October 1 – Episode #380
Bill was released from the hospital, and what did he do? He briefly went home and then headed straight to work with Dani in tow. Dani. It was there that he told Dani he couldn’t believe that Hayley played him for a fool. Dani tried to soothe his ego, but revenge was on his mind, especially since the charges against Hayley were officially dropped. Bill let Dani know how much he appreciated her being his ride-or-die through his marriage blowing up.
After Dani walked out of the office, she immediately thought of her night with Bill during the tornado. And he smashed photos featuring him and Hayley. It was clear that he was hurting over Hayley’s betrayal. Meanwhile, Chelsea was livid that her dad would pull strings to get the charges dropped. She took her frustrations out on Madison (Kenjah), who was simply trying to be supportive.
At Orphey Gene’s, Hayley learned she was persona non grata all over the DMV, including at her hair salon. Tomas and Kat arrived bickering as usual. Hayley walked over and broke the news to them that the charges against her were dropped. They couldn’t believe it. After she left, Tomas and Kat bonded over their shared hatred of Hayley. And it helped that Kat stroked his ego by saying that Tomas should be Bill’s number two.
At the country club, Martin and Smitty met with Kendra (Brittney Level) from Shonda’s team. She revealed that Martin’s opposition in the re-election found out that the police questioned Smitty. They strategized about how to handle. She was concerned that this would put his re-election in jeopardy.
At Uptown, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) and Caroline (Ellie Wang) talked. Bill’s assistant revealed that she was playing Hayley the entire time. She never liked her. She was only pretending. Jacob called Naomi and told her that the test results on the purple pouch that was found with Lia at the time of her death were in, and he had more questions for Smitty. And he would need his lawyer for the questioning.
Martin refused to let Smitty go to the precinct alone, so he was there for the questioning. Smitty insisted that the footage was a deep fake. That the actual meeting was real, but that it originally happened months ago. Back at Uptown, Caroline confronted Hayley, telling her she had never liked her, and it became clear to Hayley that the two would no longer be friends.
Chelsea and Kat talked about the charges against Hayley being dropped. Chelsea was upset that it had already happened. But Kat assured her sister-cousin that she would help figure out why this happened and what kind of leverage Hayley had against Bill.
Friday, October 2 – Episode #381
Anita threw a pre-gaming party at the mansion for Banneker’s Homecoming. Almost everybody who attended was required to wear Banneker gear. Nicole and Kial (Greg Vaughan) were there. And so were Ted and Shanice. And the two couples chatted, although there were a couple of awkward moments.
Dani and Andre were at the country club, where Dani told her husband that Hayley pulled a gun on her during that break-in. That was why she was a bit skittish. At Joey’s casino, he and Vanessa talked about the hijacking. Vanessa tried to be stoic, but she wanted to know what Joey’s plan was to take care of the person behind the crime. She actually wanted to know who it was, but Joey refused to read her in.
Chelsea visited her father at his law office. She couldn’t believe he was working already. And she still couldn’t believe that he would pull strings to get the charges against Hayley dropped. Bill fed her a bogus excuse for why he was keeping Hayley out of prison. A frustrated Chelsea then headed to Anita and Vernon’s, where she broke the bad news to Vernon, who was shocked.
Izaiah met up with Eva at Orphey Gene’s. He was all decked out in Banneker clothes, ready to go to Anita’s party. He wanted Eva to go with him. But she rejected his request. She didn’t want to walk into Dupree territory when a) Kat would definitely side-eye her the whole time, and b) the Duprees would hold the fact that her mother bailed Hayley out against her. Instead, she got Izaiah to take Elon (Malachi Malik) instead. Elon happily agreed, although he gave his son an out.
Andre and Dani stopped by Joey’s to check in on Vanessa. Dani talked Vanessa into going to the country club spa. And Andre asked Joey whether Heather was the one behind the carjacking. Joey didn’t reveal too many details, but he did say he would take care of the matter. The carjacking made Andre even more scared that Dani might get hurt with Heather around.
At the club, Vanessa researched the “company” that bought Uptown out from under Joey. She concluded that whoever did could be behind the carjacking. Meanwhile, Dani and Andre arrived at the Homecoming party, where Dani confirmed everything about Hayley’s leverage for Vernon, putting him on high alert. And Chelsea broke the news to Izaiah about a free-and-clear Hayley.
Before Elon attended the Duprees’ Homecoming party, he made a pit stop at Bill’s office, where he learned what he suspected. That Hayley had blackmailed Bill. And he warned the high-powered attorney that it was very bad that Hayley had this information. And worried about Joey’s reaction when he finds out. Speaking of which…
Bill dropped by the casino to face Joey. He told Joey that they had a problem. And that wasn’t something Joey wanted to hear.
