Weekly Recaps: August 24-28, 2026
Monday, August 24 – Episode #353
Dani (Karla Mosley) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) continued to clash in Bill’s office. Hayley called Dani out on her inability to keep away from Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett). Dani insisted that she was all about her marriage, and it was a beautiful one at that. Afterward, Dani visited with Naomi (Arielle Prepetit). She wanted to talk about her daughter’s birthday plans because Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) wanted to spend time with her.
A mystery fueled old fears for Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla). Chelsea was a mess over the one-year anniversary of when Allison (Brianna Roberts) kidnapped her. At Uptown with Kat (Colby Nixon), there was another phone call from a mystery number. Chelsea felt it was Allison trying to reach out to her. Later, Kat showed up at the precinct and asked Jacob (Jibre Hordges) to look into Allison. See if she had a burner photo or something.
Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) visited the precinct to try to repair the damage that she created when she rejected Marcel’s request to live together on The Sheila, his boat. At first, Marcel (Darryl W. Handy) was cold, but then things heated up when they were back in her hotel suite.
Dani dropped by her parents’ place, where they proceeded to put her back in the hot seat. Anita and Vernon were worried that she was getting too close to Bill. They even said that they hadn’t seen her that close to Bill since they were married. Dani, of course, deflected from exactly how close she and Bill had become.
Ashley (Jen Jacob) gave Hayley what she wanted — Bill was released from the hospital. He went home, and he and Hayley spent some time together. That is, until Chelsea and Naomi dropped by unannounced to see their dad at home for themselves. Hayley didn’t appreciate the visit. But Bill loved reconnecting with his girls.
After Hayley excused herself, she envisioned Bill keeling over from the toxin’s effects. Meanwhile, Bill asked Chelsea how she was doing on such a tumultuous day. Chelsea said she was okay. But she was able to talk it out with both Kat and Madison (Kenjah).
Tuesday, August 25 – Episode #354
At Uptown, Heather (Ashley Jones) ran into Martin (Brandon Claybon) and Smitty (Mike Manning), so she decided to toy with them and went over to make their acquaintance. She said she was a fan of Martin’s and even pointed out that she knew about Smitty’s reporting career. They both appreciated the recognition. Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) was there watching the exchange on Joey’s orders.
Over at the casino, Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) surprised Joey (Jon Lindstrom) with an unexpected makeover…of his high roller-VIP room. While Joey wasn’t exactly excited about the prospect of Vanessa sprucing up his digs, he gave in to her. Vanessa was happy because she had already scheduled an appointment with an interior designer.
Kat and Chelsea were at Caffeine Fix, about to talk about Allison, when Izaiah (Lami) interrupted them. They ended up talking about Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller), his broken heart, and Banneker. Chelsea projected her panic during the conversation and almost made it seem like Tyrell would take his breakup with Jessica (Camryn Jade) to obsessive and possessive places. But the cousins assured Izaiah that Tyrell was too sane and level-headed for that.
Tyrell and Samantha (Najah Jackson) showed up at Orphey Gene’s, where they talked to June (Jasmine Burke). Tyrell didn’t sound too excited about going to Banneker because of his breakup. But June hyped him up. And she gave him the perfect present. Additionally, she fed him peach cobbler pancakes. After this interaction, he was in a much better mindset. And he had a framed picture of June with young Tyrell and Samantha to take with him to school. He was honestly touched.
Outside Uptown, Heather made Randy. She knew he was tailing her all along. Randy brought her to Joey so the siblings could talk. Joey said that he liked Heather and sometimes loved her. But he didn’t trust her when she said she wanted to spend time with her brother. Joey wasn’t fooled. He knew she was in the DMV for another reason.
At the country club, Vanessa ran into Dani and Andre (Sean Freeman), who were in a much better place. They acted all lovey-dovey and on the same page again. But when the talk turned to Heather, Andre started wondering what they really knew about her. That they needed to be careful about thinking you know people when you don’t. After Andre left, Dani and Vanessa talked about something being up wth Andre. Something was weighing on him.
Finally, we saw Allison in her room at the medical facility where she was locked up. It seemed like she was writing Chelsea letter after letter.
Wednesday, August 26 – Episode #355
Ted (Keith D. Robinson) and Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley) began repairing their fractured friendship. Carlton confirmed he would sub in for Ted on a work event so he could go meet Shanice’s brothers.
Dani talked to Vanessa about what was going on between her and Andre. That he had started to open up to her. And he told her about his time in Europe. Meanwhile, Andre arrives at Heather’s place. She wanted to get frisky and go to bed with him. He wanted anything but. She started getting frustrated with him.
Heather admitted that she wanted him in her bed, and if he kept rejecting her, she wouldn’t take it well. At the club, Dani was confident that Andre’s secret wasn’t about infidelity. Vanessa wanted to know if it was, and Andre confessed, would she confess her infidelity right back? Later, Dani and Andre started talking, and before she could get anything out of him, they were interrupted by a text from Heather that read, “Tick Tock.”
Ted apologized to Nicole about forgetting what was important back in the day. She needed him to be there for her while she was going through all those fertility issues, and he wasn’t. Nicole didn’t think Ted needed to say the words again, but he said he would keep saying them. And they hugged.
At the casino, Mona (Karan Kendrick) and Joey had a poker rematch, and Mona walked away a winner. She didn’t even have to play for Randy’s soul this time. Although with Joey’s permission, Randy went to choir practice with Mona. Vanessa met with her interior designer and got him to take on the casino project right away (and bump back Leslie’s shouse) by making him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Once Vanessa was back at the casino, she dropped some hot gossip about Dani and her daughters, thinking that Hayley was having an affair with Randy. At Uptown, Carlton connected with Heather at the bar. The two shared a drink and flirted, and then traveled to her hotel suite.
Thursday, August 27 – Episode #356
When June (Jasmine Burke) showed up at Bill’s office to see Naomi, Bill was the one behind the desk, back at work, as if he didn’t just spend time in the hospital. She wanted to talk to Naomi about a friend of hers who has a case. Bill offered up a free consultation, and June took him up on it.
After she explained the housing situation her friend was going through, he said he and Naomi would take the case pro bono. Meanwhile, Naomi told Jacob she was frustrated that her dad had already returned to work. And when she got there, he told her about the case he had just signed them up for. Naomi said she would do it alone, but Bill made her realize it would be a two-person job.
At the country club, Kat and Tomas (Alex Alegria) were having breakfast when she got a message from her mom. Kat left to go talk to her, and Tomas was upset about that. Meanwhile, at Eva’s place, Izaiah did his best not to remind his girlfriend that she was recovering. She felt ready to go to an exercise class again. She said she would keep it low-impact, however.
At the hospital, Nicole walked off the elevator and spotted Ted and Carlton gossiping about Carlton’s evening. They clammed up when they saw Nicole walk up to them. After Carlton sidestepped out of there, Ted wouldn’t divulge what they were talking about. Nicole then asked her ex-husband about what was going on with their daughter. She wanted to meet and thought it could be about Tomas.
In Nicole’s office, Kat and her mom talked about Tomas, but then Kat told Nicole the real reason she wanted to talk to her. That she and Chelsea wanted to name a new handbag after her. But there was a catch. “Nicole” was taken, and they thought “The Nikki” would be a good substitute. Nicole didn’t agree. She told her daughter to come up with something else. And she wouldn’t budge on the matter.
As Eva headed towards her exercise class, she saw Tomas sitting alone in the dining room. Instead of going to the class, she listened to Tomas whine about what was happening at work with Naomi and how Kat was unsupportive of his perspective. And Eva took his side.
Later, Ted peeked into Nicole’s office to see what was up with Kat. Nicole asked him to come in and brought up that gossipy conversation she had witnessed earlier. She wanted to know if they were talking about her. And that if Carlton were having a hard time, she should talk to him. Ted let her know that she didn’t have to worry about Carlton at all.
At Orphey Gene’s, Izaiah and Jacob chatted about Eva and the Hawthorne Sunday family dinners. Izaiah was still reluctant to show up despite his relationship with his father improving. He said he didn’t want Eva to see the side he regresses to when he’s in that house, sitting at the table with his family.
Kat joined Izaiah and Jacob, who mentioned Chelsea and how the medical facility had found a burner phone in Allison’s room. After Jacob left, Kat filled Izaiah in on Nicole rejecting the name for her handbag. Izaiah was in the middle of trying to help Kat come up with a new name for it when Eva walked into Orphey Gene’s. And she didn’t like what she was seeing.
Friday, August 28 – Episode #357
Anita heard from her fellow Articulettes. Sharon (Bonita Brisker) and Tracy (Maria Howell) will be in town for Jazz Fest and wanted her to join them on stage. Anita told Vernon she wasn’t ready. Her voice wasn’t ready. Vernon begged to differ. Sure, she was struggling with her voice due to her chemo treatments. But she could be ready for the performance. She didn’t have to be pitch-perfect.
Anita refused to get up on stage if she couldn’t give audiences the same Anita Williams-level performance. Then she showed Vernon how shaky her voice was, and he agreed. At Orphey Gene’s, Eva didn’t like the fact that Izaiah said nice things about Kat’s business sense. She said that she and Tomas didn’t talk about anything personal. And Izaiah let her know that he and Kat didn’t either. They talked about her business. Izaiah and Eva eventually hashed out her issues.
Smitty talked to Chelsea and Kat at the country club. He told them of breaking news in the fashion industry. He was working on an exposé focusing on companies that relied on sweatshops to get their product out. One of those companies was Takashi, the business ChelseaKat was collaborating with for the Tokyo Fashion Collective. All their excitement for Tokyo started fading. Smitty promised to keep Chelsea and Kat posted about any further news.
Later, Naomi made some calls. And when she joined Dani, Chelsea, and Kat at the club, she told them there was a morality clause in ChelseaKat’s contract with Takashi. They could pull out of the collective. Unfortunately, they also have the same clause in the contract with Fenmore’s. And if the shopping conglomerate wanted to, they could cancel their contract with ChelseaKat. After she called them, Naomi told Chelsea and Kat that they didn’t want any bad press to blow back on them. Tokyo was off.
Word spread that Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht) died in prison, and she apparently overdosed, taking her own life. Although people had their suspicions. Randy told Joey, who was immediately upset. He called Heather and told her to get to the casino. Heather admitted it was a one-and-done. It would serve as a way to get others to keep their mouths shut. And it was her pivot after Joey told her that Smitty was untouchable.
Jacob told Smitty the news. He was super surprised because he had just talked to Lia yesterday. Vernon and Anita got the call as well. They decided to contact the hospital board. And Elon (Malachi Malik) showed up at Joey’s while Heather was still there. After meeting her and letting him know that she was Joey’s sister, Heather left. And Elon wanted Joey to give him anything he could use to take The Impaler off his. hands.
Finally, Hayley put on another performance with Naomi and Bill. She hassled Naomi about lightening Bill’s workload. Even though they were working on a new case together, Naomi assured Hayley that she was the lead on it, so it wouldn’t take up much of her dad’s time. After Naomi left, Bill suggested to Hayley that they go get some lunch. She said she couldn’t because she had a dental appointment, but she left him a salad in the fridge. When Bill went to talk to Tomas, she called up Randy and told him they needed to meet.
Bill had come back around and overheard the call. He followed her to Uptown, where she told Randy that she needed more toxin. He slipped her some. And she told him about the salad. She had put the rest of the toxin all over it. Bill watched them from outside the window.
Back at his office, he was eating the salad when Hayley walked in. He asked her about her dental appointment, and she lied, saying it wasn’t fun. Bill got this serious look on his face. He knew the truth.
