Monday, March 9 – Episode #245
Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) paid Joey (Jon Lindstrom) a visit to discuss the connection between Hayley (Marquita Goings) and “Sammy.” He wanted to know what’s up with this guy. Of course, Joey could have shared some intel and told him that Sammy wasn’t his real name — that his real name was Randy (Maurice P. Kerry). But he didn’t. Meanwhile, Jacob (Jibre Hordges) thought his cover was blown. He told Smitty (Mike Manning) what had happened, and they came up with a plan to deal with Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso).
Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) urged Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) to reconcile with Kat (Colby Muhammad) while Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) gave her daughter some much-needed advice, even as Kat, once again, went off on Leslie. Later, Chelsea and Kat met up and hashed things out. They were again conflict-free besties, cousins, and business partners. However, Kat explained she was still moving out.
At Uptown, Ashley (Jen Jacob) tried to comfort a distraught Grayson. She thought he messed up at work. But in reality, he was worried about what happened with Jacob. Later, Jacob called Grayson. The cop told him he needed to stay silent about what had happened.
Tuesday, March 10 – Episode #246
Jacob and Grayson met up in front of Jacob’s favorite wall. The detective asked the lab tech if he had told anybody what had happened. Grayson said he almost told Ashley, but he didn’t. Then Jacob tried to sell Grayson on the story that he was a cop who had amassed a lot of debt and was part of this plasma ring, so he could make enough money to pay it down.
Grayson at first didn’t believe him. He thought Jacob was undercover. But he insisted he was not. And he said if Grayson tried to mess with him and ruin things for him, he would take him down. Later, he called Smitty to report back. Before Smitty heard from Jacob, he spoke with Nicole. Samantha (Najah Jackson) had told her grandmother that Smitty was distracted, and Nicole was worried because Samantha was worried.
Elsewhere, Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) remained curious about Joey’s other investments. But Joey didn’t go for it. He was all about protecting her from the shadier parts of his operation. Dani (Karla Mosley) had second thoughts about her upcoming photo shoot with Tatum Stewart (Milly Figuereo). Turns out the photographer hired may be problematic with older models. But Pamela (Cady McClain) and Andre (Sean Freeman) talked sense into Dani.
Then Vanessa met with Pamela, who told the real estate agent about an opportunity with a female empowerment organization that she is a part of. They wanted to honor Vanessa for her business achievements, but Vanessa turned them down. It would involve vetting, and she didn’t want anyone to get wind of anything related to Joey. Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) used her physical therapy skills to help Ted (Keith D. Robinson), who was still hurting from the pickup game.
Wednesday, March 11 – Episode #247
Vernon (Clifton Davis) caught Bill and Hayley at a very awkward time. But he had business to talk with Bill. Vernon wanted Bill to find any loophole he could to stop Leslie’s loud construction on her shouse. The noise pollution was too much for Anita (Tamara Tunie), who needs peace and quiet. This development came after Kat visited the grandparents and suggested she move in with them into a wing of their house. They agreed.
Meanwhile, Joey had a plum assignment for Marcel (Darryl W. Handy). He basically wanted the shady detective to keep Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) out of his hair. Mona (Karan Kendrick) spotted Randy and Lynette (Dominique Madison) at Orphey Gene’s. Randy was licking Lynette’s finger in the middle of the restaurant. After Mona witnessed this, she walked over and slapped the back of Randy’s head. She was disappointed. And Deanna (Angela Fairley) came home from college. She was there to visit her mom and attend the opening of the free clinic dedicated to her dad.
Thursday, March 12 – Episode #248
After the free clinic’s official opening ceremony, there was a reception at Uptown. Eva (Ambyr Michelle) was proud of her mom, who had given a speech at the clinic. Joey was there in support, but he didn’t stay all that long. Good thing, because Deanna publicly humiliated Vanessa, calling her mom out on moving on from her dad so quickly.
Donnell (Alex Cheeks) tried to smooth things over with his twin sister at Orphey Gene’s. Kial (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole comforted Vanessa, who later told Joey that he was right. Deanna wasn’t happy with their relationship.
Meanwhile, Kat revealed to Chelsea and Tomas (Alex Alegria) that she would be moving into Vernon and Anita’s mansion. Tomas was upset that she didn’t talk to him about this first. Kat apologized.
Friday, March 13 – Episode #249
Because of Deanna’s reaction to her relationship with Vanessa, she told Joey that she wanted to know more about him, including anything he could tell her about his family. Knowing this would prove the depth of their relationship. Elsewhere, Kat and Donnell compared notes about their parents. Kat’s family experienced a public humiliation, of course. Also, Kat shared how happy she was that Donnell was Samantha’s escort to the upcoming cotillion.
Martin (Brandon Claybon) confided in Vernon about potentially being sought after to run for the Senate. Vernon felt he should focus only on the current election. And they also talked about the constant threat Joey poses to Martin’s career. Naomi and Derek (Ben Gavin) had a candid conversation about Ashley’s love life. Derek still doesn’t like or trust Grayson. He spotted him snooping around at the free clinic.
Grayson and Jacob scheduled another pickup in a Garland elevator. Jacob said it may be time to find another location for these pickups. Jacob also said that Grayson needed to stop wasting his time with Ashley. But that wasn’t the threat Grayson received. Chief of Staff Dr. Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht) suggested that he focus on his work rather than his girlfriend. Grayson stated that he could do both. After all, there hadn’t been any complaints so far, Dr.Whitmore got serious. She said if there were, he would already be dead.
