Soap Opera Comings and Goings: Surprise Return, Villain Back, and Big Exit

A villain is back, an actress returns and there’s a big exit on soap operas.

Here is the latest casting news from all five daytime dramas: The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

General Hospital Casting

Jenz Sidwell might have been sent to prison for 31 years on GH, but viewers haven’t seen the last of actor Carlo Rota. His character is set to resurface soon, when he gets a new cellmate. All indications point to the recently convicted Curtis (Donnell Turner).

Lynn Herring gets more airtime as Lucy Coe. The character finds herself rattled by something on Tuesday, August 18.

Finn Carr returns as Rocco Falconeri. Look for Laura (Genie Francis) to make a request of her grandson on Friday, August 21. Carr recently teased trouble brewing for his character and Asher Antonyzn’s Danny. 

Troy Lennon Appel resurfaces as Hudson. The Jasper Jacks Enterprises executive has scenes with Eden McCoy’s Josslyn and Rory Gibson’s Michael.

Wes Ramsey continues to appear as the late Peter August. The character’s ghost keeps haunting Finola Hughes’ Anna.

On the exit front, Paige Herschell has wrapped up her run as Jacinda Bracken. The escort turned Crimson assistant left town and her boyfriend, Michael (Rory Gibson), last week, after her plan to drug Willow (Katelyn McMullen) went dangerously awry.

The Young and the Restless Casting

Tricia Cast returns to Y&R for another limited run as Nina Webster. The character arrives in Genoa City on Thursday, August 20, when she shows up at The Shadow Room and surprises some old friends.  Cast made her last appearance on the soap in November 2025 for a very special occasion.

A pair of siblings is back on the scene: Eileen Davidson and Beth Maitland as Ashley and Traci Abbott, respectively. Look for the pair’s brother, Jack (Peter Bergman), to divulge a secret to his sisters on Monday, August 17.  

Vivica A. Fox pops in as Dr. Stephanie Simmons. The character goes the extra mile to help Sean Dominic’s Nate on Monday, August 17. Fox shared her thoughts about resurrecting as Stephanie, after decades away from daytime.

Michael Damian resurfaces as Danny Romalotti. The rock star reveals a new endeavor on Tuesday, August 18. 

Lauralee Bell is back as Christine Blair Romalotti. She shares a happy reunion with Cast’s Nina and Maitland’s Traci on Thursday, August 20

Roger Howarth continues his redemption tour as Matt Clark. The character seeks forgiveness from Sharon Case’s Sharon on Wednesday, August 19.

Days of our Lives Casting

Nikki Crawford’s run as the back-from-the-dead Lexie Carver comes to a close this week on DAYS. The actress shares emotional scenes with James Reynolds’ Abe and Tyler Joseph Andrews’ Theo on Friday, August 21. 

Casey Moss returns as JJ Deveraux. The character reaches out to Emily O’Brien’s Gwen and interacts with Tyler Joseph Andrews’ Theo on Tuesday, August 18.  

Sal Stowers resurfaces as Lani Price Grant. The character visits Chanel (Raven Bowens) in the hospital on Monday, August 17. Stowers opened up about her long road back to the soap.

Lamon Archey is back as Eli Grant on Friday, August 21. The actor and Stowers share emotional scenes as Eli and Lani remember the son they lost.

Louis Tomeo gets more screen time as Aaron Greene. The character and Vico Escorcia’s Ari spend time with baby Trey on Tuesday, August 18. Check out some interesting facts about Tomeo

Miles Anderson pops in as Foster. Look for the former bookstore owner’s date with Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) to take an unexpected turn on Tuesday, August 18.  

Peter Porte continues his run as Dimitri Von Leuschner. Greg Rikaart’s Leo gives his ex-boyfriend the hard truth on Wednesday, August 19. 

John Oliver has wrapped up his three-episode guest stint. He played Devlin St. John, the Chief Water Inspector for Salem.

The Bold and the Beautiful Casting

Delon de Metz is back on the B&B scene as Zende Forrester Dominguez. Look for Brayan Nicoletti’s R.J. to pitch a new idea to the Forrester Creations designer on Thursday, August 20.  The actor recently weighed in on his alter ego’s career and personal life

Sissy Sheridan resurfaces as Jessica on Friday, August 21. The Bikini Bar hostess is on hand when her good pal Dylan (Sydney Bullock), Will (Crew Morrow), Electra (Laneya Grace) and R.J. pay a visit to the establishment. Check out how B&B set up Will and Electra’s inevitable breakup.

Lilli Bechard plays a female patron at the above-mentioned bar. She airs on Friday, August 21.

Former Soap Hub editor, Michael Maloney, and Sandra Aguilar turn up as members of a cleaning crew. The duo airs on Tuesday, August 18.
