September is the month Deanna (Angela Fairley) lost her father. It has only been a year, and she’s grieving harder than ever. She didn’t go to her father’s funeral, so she hasn’t achieved any sense of closure with his death. In fact, it’s been the opposite. She has focused much of the anger from her grief on her mother’s relationship with Joey (Jon Lindstrom).
Deanna’s talking to a hallucination of her dad. She recently called him and found out someone else has his phone number. And she wants to take a break from school. She is reeling, and something’s gotta give. It isn’t even the anniversary of the date he died yet, but Deanna reaches her breaking point. And as a result, she makes a big decision.
Vanessa Gets Emotional with a Surprising Person
Meanwhile, Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) gets vulnerable with Izaiah (Lami). While they certainly don’t interact often, Izaiah’s presence doesn’t come out of nowhere. Joey was a mentor of sorts for him back in his younger days. Joey would get him out of trouble.
