In the Monday, March 3 episode of Beyond the Gates, Dani had a gun, and it turned out that her meltdown at the wedding was real; it wasn’t a dream. On top of that, it was live-streamed, thanks to Chelsea. An unexpected effect developed between Naomi and Jacob. Also, we learned more about why Leslie is named Leslie and not Dana. We also learned what her daughter Eva doesn’t know.
Collateral Damage
Oh, Dani (Karla Mosley). We had hoped that Dan wasn’t so far gone that she would actually train a gun on Bill (Timon Durrett) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) and shoot the weapon.
The incident triggered a few things. It caused much mother-daughter tension. Anita (Tamara Tunie) wasn’t happy with Dani. It let us know that whatever happened in Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) past may have had to do with his own meltdown. Now, Vernon (Clifton Davis) has a plan involving a big press conference. What does he have in store?

Naomi and Jacob
What was most interesting was how the damage reached Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) and Jacob’s (Jibre Hordges) marriage. Remember, he’s the robbery-homicide cop, and he did his best to handle things at the wedding. However, one thing he didn’t do was arrest Dani. And that had to be because of his allegiance to the Duprees. But he clearly felt he needed to do more, especially after they found out about the live-stream.
Post-wedding, he and Naomi had a bit of a rocky conversation. Naomi took her mom’s side and stated that Bill (Timon Durrett) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) deserved to have a ruined wedding. But after addressing his own concerns, Naomi said maybe Jacob should go home. Plausible deniability and that sort of thing. She said she was protecting him, but it didn’t seem like he felt protected. More like left out after she said something about letting the family handle it. Naomi and Jacob may have some things to work out.

Eva Doesn’t Have the Whole Picture
As suspected, Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) is Eva’s real mom. Leslie and Eva (Ambyr Michelle) are in cahoots — they want to get back at Ted (Maurice Johnson) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix). Apparently, back in the day, Ted was a great significant other until he wasn’t. He got in with Nicole and turned his back on Leslie and Eva. He never sent them child support, and he sure as hell hasn’t acknowledged their presence. In addition, Ted only knows Leslie by the name of “Dana.”
Again, what was most interesting here is that Eva has no idea how far her mom went to ensure there was an opening as Nicole’s assistant. So what will Eva do when she does find out? Until then, she is down for wreaking havoc on Ted and Nicole’s perfect lives. Leslie vowed Ted would curse the day he ever turned his back on them. Exactly how will they make the Richardson family’s lives hell?
