Bill and Hayley’s tumultuous relationship on Beyond The Gates has received criticism, and rightfully so. Bill had an affair with his ex-wife’s daughter’s best friend. Yikes. Bill and Hayley claim they’re in love and it’s for real, but are they really?
Tale As Old As Time
This is a story we’ve all heard before. A rich and powerful man was in a long marriage. But one day, he leaves his wife for a younger woman. Yet, we’re riveted by this storyline on BTG. Seeing Karla Mosley (Dani) take on the role of the woman scorned is intriguing. We find ourselves rooting for this complex character.
So, are Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) head over heels in love with each other? Or, are they doing it for the thrill? In an interview with Soaps.com, Durrett admitted, “There’s love there.” But there’s more to this love story than we’re seeing. The power, money, and prestige take it to another level, and make it seem new and exciting.
“However, when you have power and money and prestige added to that, it can shake things up. It adds a level of difference in that, ‘This is new, this is love, but with it comes access and expectations from other people,” Durrett explained.

Will Hayley Ever Be Accepted?
Hayley wants to be accepted by the residents of Fairmont Crest. However, that’s not happening anytime soon. But that’s part of the deal, when you’ve had an affair with the most powerful man, says Durrett.
“You come into a realm, and you may be held to a certain standard. And if you don’t measure up, if you will, that power and money and prestige can be the thing that turns [your world] upside-down,” he noted.
Does this mean that Hayley and Bill are doomed? These two are very much in an “us against the world” mindset. However, Durrett does feel the love between the characters. “I know there’s love there. Hayley loves Bill, and Bill loves Hayley,” he continued.
The couple will still continue to grapple with power and money. Hayley has gotten comfortable with the lavish lifestyle, while Bill is determined to hold onto his power, especially as an attorney. “But that power dynamic can be alluring in a way that kind of clouds one’s understanding of the circumstances at hand,” Durrett warned. This reads like an ominous message.
