- Matt Clark will be causing more havoc for the Newmans, especially Nick.
Howarth is Hyped About Matt’s Return
In an exclusive interview with Soap Opera Digest, Howarth always knew there would be more to Matt Clark’s reign of terror. When the thorn in the Newmans’ side was taken to the police in January, Howarth was told he would return at some point.
Once he returned, the pace picked up immediately. “It’s a really well-written role with very clear dynamics, so I felt very comfortable getting back to work,” Howarth said. “Comfortable and excited! I was definitely excited to get back to work.”
He already dove into Matt’s storyline. He might be trying to corner Nick (Joshua Morrow), who is trying to pin him down in Las Vegas. But this might be a difficult task for Nick, who’s struggling with an addiction.
“Matt’s not the one to sit still,” Howarth teased. “He’s been busy — and up to no good. Matt is just as destructive as ever!”
Praise For Y&R Co-Star Joshua Morrow
Morrow has opened up about Nick’s addiction in recent interviews. He’s also Soap Hub‘s performer of the month for March. Howarth admitted that he reached out to Morrow to share his appreciation.
He admitted that he’s a “big fan” of the soap actor. “I think he’s a very compelling, beautiful actor and he’s a really good dude,” Howarth said.
Morrow and Howarth are on good terms. But the same can’t be said for their respective characters. Just because Matt is returning doesn’t mean that he’s getting a redemption arc, though.
Howarth teased that “a shift” in Matt’s storyline makes it “fun.” He gets to film with new people this time around, such as Riza (Tina Casciani). Howarth hopes that the viewers will have as much fun with this storyline as he has had filming it.
