The Way They Were
Bobbie (the late Jacklyn Zeman) and Tony (Brad Maule) were married and happily raising their children, BJ and Lucas (Van Hansis). Then a young woman named Carly (then-Sarah Brown) came to town and, before you knew it, she’d seduced Tony away from Bobbie.
And, oh, yeah, Carly was the daughter Bobbie gave away for adoption as a teenager. Carly got pregnant, claimed Tony was the father of baby Michael (Rory Gibson), then lied and said it was Jason (Steve Burton), then had him raised by Sonny (Maurice Benard), and, basically, we got over thirty years of story out of it.
The Next Generation
Considering everything — good and bad — that came from Carly sleeping with her mother’s husband, we have to wonder if the show is headed there again with Joss (Eden McCoy), Brennan (Chris McKenna), and Carly (now played by Laura Wright). It would certainly be interesting.
Sure, Carly is with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart, who shared a big tease) for the moment. And, in the end, she’ll end up back with Sonny, as usual. But we all know how Carly feels about anything that was ever hers, being anybody else’s. (See: Jason and… everybody.)
Bold Seduction
Joss and Carly aren’t in the best place at the moment. And apples don’t fall far from trees, especially in Port Charles. This would be sleazy, and petty, and ick.
Which means it would be a good soap storyline. And that’s what this is all about. Nobody watches soaps for stable, happy relationships.
